If your getting skylanders spyros adventure for the 3ds you get an exclusive dark spryo. You also get ignitor and stealth elf. (Lucky 3ds,l i will not be getting dark spyro
and that spyro looks...terrible. it kills the brand they developped years after years. spyro used to be a more cartoon character, and that was its charm since the beginning. now it looks too mature. oh well, the game looks promising anyway, i might give it a try or not
Man, those look good. I like the new anime look they've given the Spyro franchise. I really like the Stealth Elf. So I suppose this won't be on the Sony PSVita right?
yeah. the whole character art is GREAT. but its not spyro ! NOT, spyro. its digimon or something. but... NOT spyro.
what r u supposed to do with these figures.
According to what I read in PlayStation Magazine you use the figures as a way of playing the game.
It soundly revolutionary and yet confusing at the same time. If you remember the game that was being being played on the Millennium Falcon with figures on the table and then think of EyeToy on the PS2 and EyePet on the PS3 and PSP then you've got a key to understanding how to use the figures work as it's a cross between that. You're supposed to put our figure in front of the PS3 and play via your figure sort of.

Yeah, I saw that in Nintendo Power. I hope this bombs. Activision cannot get away with making such a ludicrously expensive game. I've added up the price of what getting one copy of the game and all individual figures based on the advertised price, and you could easily buy a whole Wii console (possibly two!) with that money. Or...some other stuff. Useful stuff.
Now I know what some of you might think,."But WAM2, nobody says you have to buy every figure!" The game is still overpriced even without any figures, and there are dozens of other games (good games, even) that give you all their characters at no extra charge!
And even if the game IS good, it is still one game. Unless you can use these figures for the sequel, this is a horrible idea. And they aren't even really good for playing with outside the game! I mean, the ones I've seen have zero points of articulation. If they were like those Star Wars Galactic Heroes figures, then okay, they're compatible with a video game. That's not a rip-off. That's cool. But these things were obviously meant to only be used as expensive gaming peripherals.
Another thing, aside from Spyro himself (and even that's debatible), are there any characters from the previous incarnations? Do they have his girlfriend from the last games (I don't care what you thought of her, I liked her)? I haven't even seen Sparx in it.
And I know what you're probably thinking now, "WAM2, are you done?" and I see why you might be thinking that. Sorry for my angry rant; this game just really ticks me off for so many reasons. Anyway, I'll say one more thing then I'll be done: I hate Activision.

But only weirdos would give a toss about collecting all the characters. And milking money out of weirdos is a good thing. It prevents them from being afford to travel and find other weirdos to breed with.

@Feder: Yeah, in the last games he did, although that was a completely different Spyro as well. But that one didn't look like a...deformed...thingy. Oh, and you didn't have to by inaction figures to play as him.

I wouldn't buy all the figures either, but remember I said...

@WAM2, I'm up for new things. I liked the original Spyro as well but I'm willing to give this game a chance. The new art style appeals to me and I like the more darker anime direction they are taking it in. From what I read in PlayStation Magazine this an attempt at a reboot for the Spyro franchise and an attempt to take it in a new direction that will appeal to adults and children alike and attract the Pokemon generation.
However, I agree with you that this is obviously too expensive and they should find a better way of selling those collectible figures. Furthermore, all of this is being done in the name of money and I think that is a betrayal to Spyro The Dragon fans and the franchise itself.
