Topic: NES Virtual Console Screen Ratio Inaccuracies

I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed before; the search engine isn't helping me a lot with that... anyway, I thought I could revive it for all it's worth, and depending on what the mods or anybody else thinks.

I'm pretty sure the screen ratio problems (and the lack of any settings that might fix the issue and give us a pixel perfect presentation much like other platforms) with the NES VC games on the 3DS have been a source of frustration for many games in the last years. I've only discovered this a couple of days ago, since I'm a pretty new 3DS user, and most discussions I've seen so far usually end concluding that's the way it is and will be... that Nintendo won't do a thing about it (they haven't since 2011, after all)... and end up suggesting trying other (mainly extralegal) solutions to the problem. I assume there is no way to contact Nintendo on the issue and even less chance to get them to take action to solve it, specially when they have never done nothing about it.

Am I assesing the situation correctly? Other VC platforms work pretty well, and I wonder why they would leave one of their most loved and respected legacy systems so neglected. If that is the way this is gonna stay, I guess I can live with it, but I figured I could always give another shot at this. Thanks a lot!

3DS NES downloads aren't 4:3?

I didn't notice any ratio problems on my new 3DS? Do you have a screenshot?

It technically is 4:3 but in NES pixels, the issue the op is likely talking about is that on such a low res screen, the slight scaling just results in very poor quality, with parts of the image looking sharp, others blurry, and all around distorted.

Had Nintendo figured out users tend to like sharp, even patterns in their games, they would have included SNES VC's dumb "elusive" pixel perfect mode in the NES releases.
