I made the over-the-top looking Shagaru hunting horn, and noticed that on level up it has a song called "Finale". What does that do, I wonder? (The other two songs it has being Knockback Protection and Attack Up L).
Weird... they had that one in 4 Ultimate as well, but it was simply called Melody Duration Up. Though perhaps I should have suspected that when I used the Rajang horn which had the same selection.
@Tsurii After I played a quest, I unlocked 14 (!) more Villager requests (2 of which were the remaining ingredients), as well as another dozen or so other quests.
Oh man, the farming is getting real. Right now I need to:
-Get 3 Grimclaw I tickets for the rest of the armor set.
-Get 3 GX Gore tickets for the gunner set (and get into gunner).
-Get 8 more Accolades so I can craft the bath towel set for low rank runs.
-Kill HR7 Nakarkos a ton to upgrade his weapons and get zenny.
@Tsurii Monster Hunter players have to look things up online all the time. Stuff like elemental hitzones, how best to get a particular item etc... a common piece of advice also given to new players is to not be afraid to research new monsters on the internet. Knowing is half the battle.
@Tsurii Well, to be fair, you do get clued in once on how to rank up in the village... the Bherna gal suggests going after the Gendrome to rank up to 3-star, so the devs seem to be at least somewhat aware of this ''issue'' (especially since it comes at a time where gathering quests are still prominent)... but otherwise it simply feels like a conscious effort to discourage players from simply doing the bare minimum to progress, then either simply steamrolling lower ranks at best or hitting a brick wall at worst. The only lack of hint that bugs me is unlocking new hunter arts, which feels rather arbitrary.
That Zelda example is rather poorly timed with the way Breath of the Wild seems to be headed...
All Lance styles except Striker use that slower triple poke. Although you might want to consider Guard Rage instead of Corkscrew Thrust for that Spiked Lance for putting out much more damage overall.
I just had a lot of fun in a Prowler quest. Before it, I equipped my prowler and palicos with new weapons and armour. I didn't notice the new weapons could inflict sleep, so I was very confused for a while when the large monsters kept randomly falling asleep.
Finally started High Rank gathering in earnest. Thankfully the Carbalite and King Scarabs are fairly easily found as always, and I already see potential in a Konchu/Bone mix for an early Bludgeoner set.
