I've got the physical edition preordered. I'm trying to do as much of MH3U and MH4U as possible before this releases, but I'll probably still occasionally be doing things on the older games once Generations is out.
So, I bought the demo from the Humble Bundle because I have no patience.
Learning the aerial and adept combos is a bit of a hill to climb. Aerial GS vs Great Macco is clumsy as hell, I think it's because the monster is so small. I had much more luck running aerial bow against Malfestio, despite the confusion debuff. And adept style is really good against Nargacuga.
This game will Go very well with the Monster Hunter X faceplates I imported.
...Which were less expensive and more readily available than the standard White faceplates I was trying to get in the first place, seeing as I stupidly bought the Animal Crossing New 3DS less than a month before the Pokemon SE's were announced...
Heh, adept style combined with hammers is extremely OP. It's like you get evasion +2 and it boosts damage on your charge if you follow it out of an adept dodge.

Woke up this morning to an email from Nintendo with 2 codes. Me and my son are going to have a blast checking this out later today. I'm also going to pre-order 2 copies from Best buy soon here. Can't resist 20% off both games!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
So far I'm not seeing any visual improvements. If anything the environments have taken a step back which seems odd. The items select screen is much more bold now and will take getting use to but I think ill like it as it looks more clear now. Lastly the combat and attacks flow more fluidly now. It really feels like the weapon is a part of you as opposed to something you're just carrying. Even the attack animation looks really fluid.

The weapon animations don't feel as smooth to me as they did in MH4U, but I think that's just because I'm not used to this game yet.
Aerial style is a bit too jumpy for my tastes.
Not really digging striker either, as I'm not too keen on relying on special moves.
The stand-out of this game for me so far is adept style. I love the way it compells the player to fight aggressively, and it makes for some really fast and intense battles.
@Spoony_Tech I'm willing to bet the full game looks better on New 3DS than the demo. Perhaps there are some compressed textures in these demos? I seem to remember MH4U looking better when I was playing the full game. Could just be me, though.

@Tsurii I would expect that, but I'm hoping the full game looks at least up to the standards of 4U, which was a gorgeous little 3DS game. This doesn't look bad, but it's lacking some of 4U's visual "pop," which I'm willing at this point to blame on it being a slightly compressed demo.
Adept dodges were difficult for me to time at first, until I realized that, with fast attacks, you want to start dodging slightly beforehand so that you don't get hit by the monster's attack before the animation really triggers. Still, I'm definitely not perfect with them, and adept style is significantly harder to time with more deliberate monsters than the really fast ones. I had a much harder time with that owl than the Nargacuga because the owl seemed to pause a lot more before using an attack.
Longsword is significantly improved from 4U. I might just go back to it as my main weapon for Generations.
@Megumi_Sagano This place must really be desperate if they let you be a mod....😱
Aerial was alright but I didn't get to charge my Great Sword like I'm use to. Really good for getting out of danger fast that's for sure. I at least like that each weapon now has added variety.
@Ralizah It might be the weapon I was using and it just felt better. I can imagine each weapon might feel different to a degree.

...What's wrong with me being a mod? TwT
Besides, with my boring life and me being online almost all the time...I seem perfect for it. Also, I'm almost always around when we're attacked by trolls/spammers. >.>

Keep it PG-13-ish.
afaik the full game looks the same on both 3DS "generations". There's only small differences in draw distance I think. Not that it matters tho.
I saw a comparison video that showed the same visual differences 4U had for the new 3DS. The areas do look a bit lacking in the demo, though. Perhaps they made the demo to only scale to the standard 3DS?
