I don't think Nintendo would charge for DLC. If they charge for it, it'd proabably be significant such as level packs and things that add to the game's core mechanics.

DLC parts, you know, shouldn't interfere with much of anything. It just adds more and more variety, because thhis game is bound to have people with the same parts and using the same character because to them, they just want to win. I mean, everyone wants to win. But if something is overpowered, then something has to be done to keep things balanced and fun for both parties (except those who just want to win and have heart attacks if they come in 3rd... or something- you know, the psychos).

I don't expect DLC parts to significantly change anything, but rather give some new aesthetics and look. I believe MK7, they were trying to aim for a "balance". I sure hope this is true.

DLC tracks, of all, is my most wanted out of everything. I'd love for them to send us a SPECIAL Rainbow Road cup where you can race on the past rainbow roads in one cup. That'd be totally awesome.

And yes, Nintendo has released DLC through Animal Crossing City Folk. They created ORIGINAL items, so these items aren't pre-loaded on the disc. Unless you consider 256 empty slots for DLC, these items were created from scratch. And they were free.

I HIGHLY doubt Mario Kart 7 will have DLC.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I doubt they'd go DLC for tracks; it just isn't Nintendo's style. Even if they dip their toe in from time to time, they're really more on the side of "a game is a finished product with all content planned and designed meticulously in advance" rather than "a game is a starter package to be extended by DLC and user contributions." I don't expect that to change.

DLC missions, however, seem likely enough given the Wii's usage of contests.

True, but Nintendo fans don't need DLC to keep playing Mario Kart. I still play Mario Kart Wii. With that said, I wouldn't get my hopes up for DLC anyways. When has Nintendo ever released DLC in the past?

I'm a Nintendo fan and I need DLC. It's such a necessity this generation. Like DLC, multiplayer is huge this generation as well. Nintendo is just starting to realize this and if they don't realize how great it is for the company, as it is for us, then it'll be a very regrettable situation. And as Adam said before: Nintendo released the Mario Kart Wii channel for free DLC to be downloaded. Wasn't much but neither was City Folk's DLC. Nintendo has done it before but not in loads or for a price. We are just getting into the next generation with the 3DS, so I can see things changing fast.

Those weren't DLC though. Just weekly mission events. Like Monster Hunter TriG with it's online quests. They offered quests like Nintendo does with MKWii but it wasn't DLC because it's already pre-loaded on disc.

Pokemon Black and White may be considered to offer DLC with their C-Gear skins and giveaways of exclusive Pokemon only obtainable by giveaways.

But I wouldn't mind something like MKWii's online events for MK7.

Sure they weren't DLC but it was, in more ways than one, a form of it. Seeing Nintendo doing downloadable content for MK7 won't surprise me rather intrigue me into really getting into it and playing for many more months than originally anticipating.

hey guys i can't play my favorite games like Metroid Prime or Half Life 2 anymore, I need new content for them! Replaying the same game is never fun ever!

I'm not againts the idea of DLC when it isn't complete bs but I just hate the reasoning that you NEED more content in a high quality game, especially a Mario Kart game, where you have to be trying to get actually get sick of it. Yeah, I don't mind DLC, but the idea that it's needed in every game annoys me.

Half-life 2 is a bad example as it gets DLC in the form of Mod's. In fact Counter strike was a form of DLC for Half-life 2.

Also Anyone who's played Dragon age/Mass effect or has ever played a PC game in thier life can't really say that DLC isn't needed. what do you think expansion packs are.

well to be fair, I don't care about expansion packs either. Not my thing really. And I've never played Counter strike or any of those mods. So...yeah.

My thing, especially lately, is I want to play a good variety of games. I don't want money going into games I already played if I can play an entirely new game instead, even during times when I enjoy the former game more than the latter. Variety is fun.

But this is beside the point. My point in the first place was that people who think DLC is so necessary for modern day gaming...it isn't necessary. I have seen some people who have used the logic that Wii games mostly don't have DLC as a reason to not get them, which honestly confuses me to no end. But to be fair, those were often the same Kotaku idiots who tried to justify not getting LKS, so I'm probably thinking too much.

Did someone say MK7 needs DLC? I don't think anyone would mind it. As long as the game has the same amount of content as usual and they aren't slacking to make up for it later with DLC (that's not Nintendo's style anyway), I see no problem with wishful thinking.

Someone mentioned a DLC Rainbow Cup. That would be fantastic and even worth paying for. I don't think Nintendo will do anything beyond missions or purely aesthetic kart parts, but you never know. The channel with downloadable missions for MKW was nothing they'd ever done before; there is a first time for everything.

I guess Skyward Sword needs DLC too. I mean, they could always give us another dungeon. (sarcasm)

I never said every game needs DLC. Mario Kart is just one of those games that deserves it. But as this generation has proven is that DLC for games that appropriately deserve it, sell. Nintendo should get on the bandwagon and create DLC for MK7 after it's finished.

Could be cool. Have the the DLC dungeons be reimagned dungeons from past games.

It would not be the first Zelda to have a new dungeon added, only the first to have it added by DLC. Link's Awakening got a new one in DX; Link to the Past got one on GBA; Four Swords recently got several.

Contrary to what some might think, DLC is not the devil. It's downloadable content. Devil doesn't even have a C in it. Learn to spell, people.

Yes, the DLC Rainbow Cup

Always wanted it in MK7 but it looks like it won't be happening which is why I hope that there'll be dlc for that.

DLC works for some games. Others, well, it's just nice to have but not necessary. Brawl is a game that would have been awesome to have DLC, but it's still going strong online (especially AllIsBrawl).

I myself download custom content for Brawl through homebrew because it just makes things even more fun. Though I can't play certain custom stages online (such as Saffron City and Fourside), stages with custom skins with no alteration to the form on the stage keeps things fresh.

I play online with custom music too, and custom skins for my favorite characters. It's unoffcial user generated content, but it's still awesome. But because people are limited, it would have been nice for Nintendo themselves to supply new characters and even stages. A handful of people did a great job creating totally new stages and some inspired from other games such as Gellschaft from TvC.

Like Adam said, DLC isn't evil. But neither is it necessary. Yet, would you really pass up on worthy extra content? I wouldn't. Variety is always good for games like MK7. Even more is just so much better, imo.

Brawl technically has DLC without HB. Anyone can download stage creator stage to their SD card legally and play them. Player-made content is perhaps the oldest kind of DLC.

Not that that's particularly relevant here. Brawl's stage creator is awful, and Nintendo does not seem interested in letting their main studios spend time on stage creators, which is fine by me. They have a busy schedule.
