Does anyone else kinda zero in on other people playing your character online? Maybe its different because I use Rosalina and I don't see a ton of her online, but I always declare any other Rosa to be my destined rival and I do my best not only to win, but to humiliate the other Rosa. She's mine, after all. >:[

I played Download Play with my brother and it lets you race on every course, even Grand Prix. It also let's you play VS, choose a course to race on, etc. And teams. Shame this never made it into single player nor online (at least, teams). I also notice how there are some weird glitches... Like I saw Daisy fall off 3 times but she appears on course (like online), but also how my brother was listed as being 8th even though he was in 2nd while racing. Just weird stuff. But still, it's all streaming from one card, so if he had his game, maybe those things would not happen. Other wise, it's all good. No latency issues in regards to items.
After more than a week of problems getting online with MK7, I have now played my first cup with no problems.
In short, I just put my 3DS into the router's DMZ again, and rebooted it. Then I manually set up the connection with my 3DS using this guide from Nintendo:
Played Mario Cup after that, a bit of lag but no disconnections at all. I came in 3rd overall, and wept manly tears of joy at being able to play MK7 online.

I've played quite a few games online since launch, and I rarely see any Toads. It's weird.
I've managed to get a time of 1:56.4 seconds on Rainbow Road. That put a big smile on my face
Question, and sorry if it's been asked: I cannot get the quick-start at the beginning of a race. Is it just a matter of timing when to hit the gas when the light goes green?
I've been working some time trial times on the Mario Kart SNES circuit 2 or whatever it is. It feels like a circuit course aside from the major flying component you can use to make a short-cut when you boost over the track. Right now my best time from last night has been hanging around 1:34. I'd like to shave off that time. The preset ghost on there is 1:28! That's ridiculous! I'm going to have to practice some new tricks on it.
My apologies if this has been asked about (there's so many pages in this thread!). When I play Mario Kart online (usually Worldwide) why is it that some opponents cannot be taken out with anything? I've seen shells (green or red) bounce right off the back of an opponents kart! I thought maybe I was just shooting from too far away but that's not the case. Is there an upgrade that has a better defense and perhaps I'm racing against an opponent who has a better kart? Am I insane? haha

No your not insane. I've ran into some hackers lately and had to delete one of my friends list two days. His name was smalltall and he would place in front of me no matter how many times I beat him. It was really weird. At the end of the match the results screen would take up to three times longer then it should. Once he left no more problems. Got him number from the 3ds friends code list so beware!

@Spookular: You can hold items on the back of your car to block incoming items. Hold the L button to do so when you have a holdable item. There are a lot of hackers already though.
It bugs me when I see people fall off the course, and then just keep driving instantly, must be the connection. I've found that your weapons are more responsive to people in your region as opposed to people overseas.
As for the Wuhu Loop glitch, I don't think it'll make much of an impact anyway. I actually puprposely burn out on Maka Wuhu to make sure no one does that horrible glitch. If they do, I'll follow. Might as well beat them at their own game.

1st, if he was infront of you he was probably beating you. 2nd, it takes a while to load because he probably has a poor connection.

@Aviator He was never in front of me once I crossed the finish line. It was really strange why it was taking so long for the game to finish. The first two times he was only one place in front of me. The last game he somehow finished in first place and I know he was no where near first place. If it was his net then I apologize but that's still messed up.
