Also, you guys are too much with your snaking. I shared a video of someone doing the exact same thing in your beloved MKW already, and no one cared one bit. Why the surprise? It has been possible all along, it just doesn't help very much and is much harder to do without manual mini-boosting. All communities will end up being no snaking communities because no one is going to bother doing it. The video shows both that it's possible and that it's slightly significant. You would need much more boost and the ability to do it on much smaller tracks for it to give any advantage over a normal kart with better top speed.
Just kidding of course. As long as someone is doing it, that's all I need. Less work for me, same community fun... all good here. I'm looking forward to trying all the different communities.

The video in this thread made me concerned, but as I said, it's not enough information to tell how useful snaking will actually be in MK7.
It doesn't matter if snaking in some diminished form is possible in many entries in the series; the real question is simply whether or not it will be so advantageous as to completely ruin all balance, as many of us believe it did for MKDS. However, I hope you're correct that it won't be of much use in this game.

You weren't the only one to react to the video. But I don't really see cause for concern. The video shows only what can already be done in the previous game, so it's nothing new. Why be concerned now and not before?
It's still theoretically possible, but the demonstration uses the egg kart, which was the best kart for snaking in MKDS, and barely manages to get any boost on what looks like one of the best tracks for snaking. Corbie and others with the game say that handling doesn't change that drastically from kart to kart like in MKDS, so if the egg can barely do it, I don't personally see how it could be too useful with any kart, personally.
And even if it were more useful, communities will still be the place to counter it because too many people will complain, but I hope it isn't an issue because I know some people don't like it and I know I don't like listening to people complain about it, haha.
Post it in one of the community threads. James already posted a bob-omb only community in the official thread. I don't know how communities work though, so I'm not sure if you can do battles in that community or only races.

I don't see why not. I think from the videos you can battle in communities

You misunderstand. I know you can battle in communities. But it's not clear to me if you have to specify if your community is a Battle community or a Race community, or if you just make a community and you can choose which mode you want when you start the game. The reason I think it might be separate is that he mentioned earlier that certain options aren't allowed in Battle communities.
James listed a Bob-Omb Only Community, but didn't say if it was racing, battle, or both. I'm assuming he is just listing racing communities right now, if that is in fact how it works.

Would seem kinda silly, but at the same time it's not too inconvenient to be honest.

Basically you define two factors: speed and which item set you want.
After that, you pick a course and race; so far I haven't done any battle in a community but I haven't played it much.
Ah, so I guess if you have No Items it just grays out the battle courses on the course select. Thanks for the info. That sounds good. I would prefer not having to join a hundred different communities to get the same options in battle.
You can have 50cc, 100cc and 150cc for battle mode. My opinion about snaking is that it takes the fun out of mario kart, and anyway, the only tracks it would look to be useful on are Toad Circuit and Luigi Raceway. I'm not going to worry about it though. Also, what items can you set as the only item in a race/battle?
