I'm planning to get a new 3DS called the 3DS XL but the thing is my old one is still working fine(yes even the circle pad incase you're wondering). But I'm really beginning to wonder if its really worth to have two 3DSes? To those who have two 3DSes for themselves, is it worth to have two?
I still have my first regular 3DS and it's still in perfect condition, but I'm waiting for a good bundle to switch to an XL. The 3DS cramps my hands and I'm not a fan of the glare and smudging on the glossy screen. The overall make of the XL is also sturdier.
I would say that it's not worth upgrading unless you have ample room in your budget or your 3DS is broken.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Well, now with Pokebank you can just move your pokemon around your games with a single console. So, unless you want to have an emergency console for multiplayer or like to collect models, I'd say you're good with just one.
I myself gave my original 3DS to my mom when I upgraded to the XL. Then left my [slightly broken] XL with my older brother when I replaced it with a 2DS.
I have an XL and a regular 3DS. It depends on if you have friends that don't have 3dses and you want to play multiplayer with them. Other then that not much point in keeping the original.

if you have siblings or any other family member that you like to play games with, yes get a new one and keep the older 3DS to play with them.
otherwise it's just a waste.

It's worth it. When you inevitably get the XL, here's something you need to do. Put the original on the table, opened and with 3D all the way up. Then go into Camera Mode on the XL, put the 3D all the way up, and look at the original 3DS's top screen. You will finally witness 6D, which is something only the few people who have two 3DSes have ever experienced. Worth the price of admission alone.
Go buy that second 3DS!

^ I should totally gather my sister's old 3DS, my sister's new 3DS, my dad's 3DS, my old 3DS and do that with all of them so I can see 12-D. And when my mum finally gets her 3DS I can gather all of them again so I can be the first person in the world to witness 15-D.

Not often, but once or twice. Oh, and I would recomend getting an XL.
Reasons: Longer battery life, bigger screen, and with that bigger screen, it will be soooo much easier to play ssb4.
only once then I discovered it was just some dirt and found a way to shake it off(pretty much just like calibrating it, but a little faster and both clockwise and counter clockwise)

Since getting the Zelda XL I haven't used my original at all. That's mainly because I don't have my downloaded games on it anymore and there's no way to sync the play history. I do wish I could still use it, though. I used to take it around with me everywhere but the 3DS is too big for that, so my play coins have taken a big hit.
I recently upgraded to the XL, but I'm keeping the original 3DS, as I can use it to play Mario Kart with my granddaughter! (I never get rid of a console as long as it's still working - I have all my consoles back to the green-screen GameBoy.)

I keep all of my old consoles, in case one breaks I can still play games. If your current 3DS is fine, I'd wait for a bundle for a while; the prices can only go down right? And with more options, you could end up with something cool, like even a smash bros 3DS~

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I say go for it. I was in the same boat 6 months ago with buying a blue Pokemon XY 3DS XL even though my blue 3DS still worked. End up buying it to have as a collector's item on the side. 3 months later my circle pad mess up and my warranty was already expired, so I would have to pay +$85 for repairs during the holiday season (at least 2 weeks turnaround). I was going to do that until I decided to open the 3DS XL and transfer my data which coincidently was the same night as the Nintendo update that removed the transfer limit.
In short, it's nice to have a next one if you can just in case. Also the extra size surprisingly made a difference on how I play my games.
