Topic: "Incredible, absolutely incredible!" ~ Your first reaction to the 3DS!

Well, after combing through 10 pages of threads, I decided to make a topic for people to talk about their first time seeing the 3DS.

Not really a review, just that feeling that went through your mind when you first saw the 3D without the glasses!

I made a video at my school showing a few friends and teachers the 3DS (after launch day) and it was well-received!

My first reaction of the 3DS I was like "Oh crap! I can't see 3D", then I was like "Wait, no, I'm just holding it wrong...This is decent I guess..."
I never really cared much for 3D. It was neat for the first minute or two, but the special felling for me wore off way too quick. I still play it in 3D, but I don't really notice a difference in the experience.

I shed MANLY tears after activating the 3D. So beautiful...

I think most people have already seen mine. LOL

As Corbie put last E3, "Incredible, absolutely incredible," It is safe say that the first time I saw it I was amazed, and I was in car on the way back from gamestop. I then took it to school and there was only one person out of about 20-30 disliked it, everyone I manged to show the 3D to though it was cool expect that one person, may math teacher even let me play it in class! I would give this awesome system a 8.5/10, I may change this score when the E-shop and Internet launches in May.

When I played the demo unit at gamestop I was like "Wow this is amazing!". That made me change my mind about getting a 3DS next year. BTW Did that wrist strap come with the system?

its kind of werd. seeing how many people have internet these days and they dont even know about certain stuff. shure the 3DS had plenty of demo's on launch day but gaming is not everyones hobby. or maybe its just that there are some people in general that think computers are extrodinarly dificult to use like my dad.

but its sad how many people rely on TV for their tech news and dont hear about stuff like the 3DS untill the last minute. in otherwords many people do not know about these tech sites like nintendolife and ingadget.

back on topic:my first reactions were pretty good. although the 3D in the streetfighter IV demo at gamestop was hard to see. but at times i found myself not even keeping track of what buttons i was pressing and that goes to show you how emisive the 3D is in general

I laughed my head off.

My reaction to seeing the 3D screen paled in comparison to the first time I saw Super Mario 64. That was truly the most magical moment of my gaming experiences.

But my reactions was not.. OMG. But I was really impressed. There are games I need to see that make the BESTEST BEST use of the 3D. That new Pacman and Galaga game surely will next month. Kid Icarus is exciting too.

It's pretty cool....I must admit that most of the wow-factor has worn off for me too....I don't know if it's the resolution or what but I just don't find the 3d effect helping for Pilotwings at all...still can't judge distance to save my life. It was nice in Monkeyball (regular mode and Monkey Kart) however....maybe having the ground beneath you w/ a shadow helps.

Still quite a nifty machine though. But yeah--it really hasn't done anything for my friends. Each of them checked the 3d out a bit--took a few pictures, played some Face Raiders/Monkeyball/AR stuff, but had no desire to put more than a couple minutes in.

I was more impressed with the ar cards then the 3D screen.

And that's it. After that I started playing it as much as my old DS and Game Boys and it got less impressive, if only slightly, because I got used to it so quickly.

I walked into gamestop, purchased my PSP and while leaving saw the display for the 3DS... Looked at it, said some things people on this nintendo site wouldn't enjoy, meh, and walked out.

I was at GameStop today to take advantage of their current sale and decided to finally check the thing out. They had Super Street Fighter IV 3D, which was probably not the greatest for showing off the actual 3D. I went ahead and put it in the over-the-shoulder view, but my impression was not so much "wow" as that it just kind of worked. The most disturbing thing to me was the fact that the backgrounds looked more like pop-up book 3D than anything else, but the character models themselves looked quite good in 3D and I had no trouble judging distances for connecting my punches and kicks.

Basically, it's all right, but it didn't make me want to go out and buy one immediately. My favorite new feature was actually the analog pad, which felt great. More than anything, I was just relieved that my eyes had no trouble seeing the 3D immediately!

@zezhyrule - You're just now getting a PSP. You should be ashamed.

Honestly? The 3D effect was pretty disappointing. The sweetspot is freakin' TINY (so the first time I looked I saw more double-images than 3D), and it doesn't look as clear as a normal 2D screen. First impressions instantly made me think of those 3D cardboard things you see like on the SSFIV3DE cover. I also hated the way the slidepad felt initially (but I love it now, haha).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissatisfied with my system or anything, since I didn't buy it for the 3D — the thing's a beast compared to my DS lite. :3
