Oh my cripes, pixelman, that's going on my hard drive.

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

Shouldn't the title be
"Incredible, absolutely incredible!" ~ Your first reaction to the 3DS!
???

Anyways, i was very impressed, that plus the excitement of finally getting a 3DS, plus the excitement of receiving a package by mail itself. which is always awesome

Remember that scene in "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" when flint lockwood meets sam sparks and she starts talking scientifically and flint gets all happy?
My face was like that.

As the 3DS was the first time I touched a new Nintendo product since SMG2, yeah I've been playing everything else for a while and kind of went through a 360/PS3 phase for a while, but I played it at Best Buy and I loved it the graphics were amazing, I was like wow this is awesome. Then I turned the 3D on and saw two rings on Pilotwings and instantly remembered why I hated 3D. Its awesome, but if and when I get one it'll be for classic 2D screen with Gamecube graphics on the go. I only played Pilotwings, but I need to see more to sell me on the real 3D aspect of the system. I still love it for everything else though

Actually, there's a story behind that wrist strap.

It's really the one that was included in my first original Nintendo DS system (well technically, my second one after my nephew spilled juice on the first one I got for Christmas...)

The tradition I keep is that with each new DS (and now 3DS) I had, I always attached that strap. Kinda like a torch of some sort.
Cheesy, but meaningful!

I do that too!
My original DS may be completely busted, but its legacy is still living.

Honestly, when I saw the 3DS the first time, I wasn't impressed. I just realized at that point that it wasn't pop out 3D like I previously thought and that it was instead depth 3D. So, it was a more "Oh, I see" reaction.

Wow, as many times as people and staff had described the 3D effect as being far more depth than pop-out, I'm shocked anyone thought it would be the pop-out variety.

Plain old gamer :)

@Corbs: Yea, until I saw it in person, I kinda glazed over all mentions of the 3DS since if I thought it was awesome, its not like I could have got one at that point anyways.

Wondercon 2011, April 1, I get in the Nintendo booth where they are demoing all sorts of upcoming 3DS titles. I go straight for Zelda. I pick up the handheld and i gaze at its screen "Wow ... oh my god this is.. this is... wow. this is great I want one." I then attempted to speed run the deku tree given the time limit of the demo

of course then I had to go around and play all the other games .... well maybe not all but the ones that appealed to me, Dead Or Alive, Resident Evil: Mercs, Kid Iccarus and me and another guy played VS. in Super Street Fighter 4 3D the wireless connection was perfect, there was no loading delays or lag of any kind, it was flawless. as a whole I was just super impressed by the machine

I don't get why everyone thinks the 3DS can only do depth 3D. It does the pop-out effect quite easily, if you want to see that, just take a photo of any object then go to the viewer and push the analog stick full left and your object will pop-out. If you move it full right, you'll have a lot of depth.

"Meh, it's neat"

That were my literal words to my GF when I tried it in London.
I basically saw a superior DS with 3D. lol Not that it's a bad thing.

My guess is, since I'm a movie lover and have seen a lot of 3D movies (Avatar, How to Train your Dragon, Coraline etc) that the 3D effect wasn't mind blowing to me.
Also I thought the games were bleh, cept Zelda, but I wasn't mind blown by it. lol.

Some of the extra unlockable content in Pilotwings Resort definitely pops out of the screen. I'm glad that it's more about depth and less about images coming out at you though. I feel like things popping out of the screen would make gameplay kind of difficult.
