They should, after all, the 2DS is much cheaper than a normal dsi and can play DS and 3DS games. Plus theres all the features of the 3DS, Virtual Console, the new and improved Nintendo Eshop, and more, all at a much cheaper price point! The era of the DS shall be put to an end! Hello era of the 3DS!!!

Why? If there's money to be made in selling an older system for a non-competitive market price, Nintendo will continue to sell it. It took 4 years before Super Smash Bros. Brawl got a $20 price cut; an average game of a similar merit would have its price slashed in half within 6 months. If Nintendo can still sell a DSi (XL) to people and make money, they will.

Honestly, I agree. Discontinue the DS and DSi, and discontinue the Wii in all regions too. That'd eliminate most 3DS and Wii U confusion pretty quickly, especially given how you'd be giving them no choice but to choose the new systems.
