Topic: I love Paper Mario: Sticker Star!

I just played through two classic PM games, TTYD and Super Paper Mario. From those two, I preferred SPM, mainly 'cause of the backtracking in TTYD. Don't get me wrong, there's backtracking in SPM too, but it's better designed. The story of Super Paper Mario with the Bleck/Tippi love story is also my favorite of the series.

At any rate, now for the next game, I started: Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It seems most people rank this usually to the bottom or close to the bottom of Paper Mario game lists. As for me, I've played a few stages now, and in my honest opinion, the gameplay has been so far more fun than I expected. Collecting stickers and ending the fights soon with OP ones is very addicting. I also love those realistic items you can find and turn into super-powerful stickers.

I think there are not many agreeing with me, but what I've played so far, has been a more fun time than what I had in the games I played before. I don't mind about the fact all NPC:s seem to be toads. The level design and puzzle solutions are just so ingenious. I've played so many RPGs:s, I'm generally very bored of turn-based battles. However, you can end them very quickly here, and it's always rewarding trying new stickers or their combinations.

I'm not far in the game, but at this point, I would rate it about even with SPM, and a lot better than the TTYD. I just hated the random battles in that one, and... yeah, the backtracking in almost every stage was unforgivable. Despite this, the game would still get an 8,5 score from me. Super Paper Mario would get 9 and Sticker Star would be about 9,3 at this point. The score might go up or down when I progress in the game. At any rate, it's been very fun to this point.

I know many people don't like this game, and I'm sure part of them are people who haven't even played it. I don't want to hear their criticism, because I know it all already. I would like to hear some other people who think this is an underrated game.

I did enjoy sticker star. It really helps if you don't try comparing it to the first two games. Yeah it's different but every single one to come since TTYD has been drastically different. It probably still is the lowest point of the series for me but i don't think it's awful like so many will tell you. I just prefer the ones with party members and the more RPG style with leveling and such. Sticker star is just okay. I really don't get all the hate.

Now that I've played it a bit more, I think there are a bit too many battles. It would also be better if the enemies were not chasing you at all so that you could go past them without fighting.

Edit: Oh yeah, despite having played all previous entries, I went to Sticker Star without expecting it to be something. Perhaps that's why I haven't disappointed in anything.

Summon Things was my favorite part.
They were like Final Fantasy magic spells / Eidolon.
Scissors = Odin
Ice stuffs = Shiva
Fan = Pandemonium
Water things = Leviathan
Vibration things = Titan
Trumpet = Noise, Violins = Noisera, Electric guitar = Noisega
Battery = Ramuh / Ixion
Etc.

It's certainly not terrible. I found it enjoyable enough to play at the time and went right through to the finish.

It's just that, looking back, there just wasn't anything like the payoff towards the end that the rest of the games in the series have delivered, i.e. no truly memorable story twists or gameplay moments.

It also plays very differently to the other games in the series, with the exception of the subsequent Color Splash. Then again, so did Super Paper Mario which I really enjoyed, so I don't think I'd hold that against it too much.

I mean, there are certainly enough things in the game where I can see people enjoying it.
