I probably shouldn't say this considering my 3DS retail collection doesn't go into double digits yet, but this might be the most underrated game...that's a retail game at least. It's easily the best launch title of the 3DS, that for certain.
It's literally just a good turn based strategy game. One of those games that have a fairly small amount of units but many of them are named and can be upgraded like crazy. So it's very much awesome few characters vs. tons of bad guys. Probably a decent game to play while waiting for FE or WHERE'S MY NEW ADVANCE WARS NINTENDO. Something like that. It's not super innovative or anything you can't live without, but it's been really fun and even on normal has so far felt noob friendly enough so even someone not good at the genre like me can play it on normal (there's also expert difficulty btw). Granted, the graphics often make Advance Wars: Days of Ruin look like Kirby's Epic Yarn and the characters so far have been extremely meh but otherwise it's been a lot of fun.
Yeah, it's the best 3DS launch game in my opinion.
I'm really hoping for a sequel, because this game was a blast.

still have to play this.
it is more like fire emblem than advance wars right?
i loved advance wars dark conflict
but i hated fire emblem shadow dragon
so i am kinda hold back to get ghost recon shadow wars
This game is fantastic. I got back when the 3DS came out, waited a few weeks for my poor wallet to recover. It has a good amount of replay value and even though you have to pass the unit when playing multi-player it is still one my faves to play a round of multi-player. I can safely give this game a 8.5-9.0/10 and I would another game the ending left it pretty open for one. In five years or so when people look back on the 3DS I better see this and Nano Assault on one those "Most under appreciated games" list.
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...

well you can't let named characters die or else you lose and leveling up is much easier to keep even between characters. That helped for me.
This was my first 3DS game and I quite enjoyed it. It's a solid, enjoyable, turn-based strategy game.
I liked the level-up and equipment system a lot. I'm not huge on RPG elements, but the game managed to keep things very simple while still making me think about what the best strategy would be.
An easy recommendation for Fire Emblem or Advance Wars fans, like @kkslider5552000 said.
This is a great game, by far the best launch game for the 3DS. Too bad it didn't really have any 3DS features (apart from tacked-on 3D) and could of easily been released as a DS game.
Not that I'm in any way criticising this game (because it's actually very good), but the fact that it's still the only real strategy game on the 3DS speaks wonders to my opinion of this console.

The Vita has more strategy games on it.

That's right. Sony is so sick of people acting like the Vita has no games that it hired me to go on Nintendo forums and point out that it has more strategy games than the Nintendo 3DS.

if it pays halfway decently, I'd certainly join you. And then use that money to buy a Vita and New Little King's Story.
As soon as FE comes out the 3DS strategy line up will exceed the Vita's. Nintendo and its 2nd party developers do what everyone else don't.
Anyway, this game is brilliant and I would buy a sequel in a heartbeat. I especially like the zombie missions - perhaps UbiSofia could work them into the story in the future?
Yeah the zombie missions were fun. This thread is making me want to play the game again.
I actually liked the 3D. It wasn't amazing or anything but it worked. I hope the Fire Emblem game ends up looking similar. Looking down on a what appears to be a miniature diorama is very cool.

The smoke effects in Ghost Recon look particularly great in 3D
@6ch6ris6 There isn't a great deal of zombie missions, but one of my favorites was a multiplayer mission where you and a friend take turns as the survivors and the zombies.
