Actually to be honest, I had a feeling Nintendo would sooner or later begin incorporating same-sex relationships into Fire Emblem, and I'm pretty sure others thought the same thing. It was just a matter of time.

Furries? We've had the laguz, the manakete and a number of other beast/humanoid races and the youkai are what get you? Beings based upon actual Japanese myth?

Just saw the same sex comment. THANK YOU! I was getting sick of shipping characters in my head. Could somebody tell Fallout 4 about that? I was not happy with the character creator for that game.

Back on topic...now I'm on pins and needles for my copy to come in.

Also, there was a poll in Japan. The most popular characters in Awakening are being added as children in Fates. Kind of cool.

I like how people are going into a heated debate over the news of same-sex marriages being possible. Just wait until they find out about the incest marriage!

Well I'm glad Nintendo decided to do this. The options available still seem limited, but for me it's a step in the right direction.

I'm sure there will be immediate backlash because of this, so I hope Nintendo doesn't go back on their word and make any last-minute changes.

Eh, the same-sex marriages are the least of their concerns. There's some other content that they will be much more concerned with, one of which they might try to find a way to censor without outright removing it, as removing this particular thing affects the game. Some of my earlier comments have spoiler tags that contain what these things are if you don't mind some spoilers (nothing major story-wise though).

Probably not. The source in that Polygon article posted was Nintendo of America, so I'd say they're already on board with this.
