So I'm sending my 3DS to Nintendo to get repaired. No doubt they will try and claim that there's nothing wrong with my console and then charge me the fee for fixing stuff that isn't broken (seriously, Nintendo has that policy in Australia).
I got some errors in the beginning but they went away. I have 3 questions though. 1) Are you just always getting the error ever since the beginning? 2)Have you done the 2nd update they did after the eshop one? Finally 3)Did you go to nintendo and see what the error was?

Yes yes and yes. It's not a problem with my router - literally everything else works on it (including the 3DS' other online features). It's not a problem with Nintendo's online services in Australia, since both the DSi and Wii connect to their online services fine.
I think I'm going to wait for the next update to see if that fixes it. I really don't want to send mine somewhere if I don't have to.
Like you say it will still connect to the internet so it can't be a hardware issue, got to be some bug in the software that hopefully an update will fix.
