I always play games 3D no matter what game. I don't understand how the 3D effect can trigger headaches. When I first got my 3DS I never experienced any symptoms that relate to a headache.

Well, you probably don't understand it because it's never happened to you. I've gotten a couple of headaches from it, but that was also because I had a long day at the office, etc. Usually it does not give me any type of issue although my eyes adjust to it and I stop seeing 3D after awhile. My wife can't play her 3DS XL with the 3D on, hardly ever. It hurts her eyes. It varies for different people.
I play in 2D. To my knowledge, having the 3D on consumes more battery. I'd rather play the system for longer than be using the 3D. The 3D effect also emphasizes the fact that my 3DS's top screen is a dust magnet. Whenever 3D is on, I can see all of the particles cluttering the screen. Sometimes I'll put up with it, often though I just turn the slider to 2D.

I always play in 3D. In fact, I almost can't play in 2D! If I play a game for a while and decide to turn off the 3D to keep from hurting my eyes or anything, next thing I know, I subconsciously turn the 3D back on! I literally don't realize it!
Always use 2D. Have to really...can't see the 3D. At all. Just see overlapping images and it never resolves into a single image, though others can see it on my console. It's the same on all consoles for me. I just can't see it. Can't see those magic eye pictures either. Never been able to.
3D every time - i just love the effect, but then there are games that in my opinion really dont use 3D well :/ So those i normally play in 2D to save battery life XP
2D because my eyes are bad, and the 3D doesn't work if you hold it too close to your eyes like I have to. If I try 3D the right way it's only on games where the words are big so I can see them. if they're small, and I try to use 3D my eyes start to hurt after five minutes so most of the time I can't enjoy my favorite game OOT in 3D. I know kinda depressing my disability effects my gameplay.

In health, and safety it says headaches can be triggered by 3D.
It depend on the game. Legend of Zelda was hard to play with it on, because of the slingshot and
arrow. But games like Animal Crossing are great in 3D.

Unfortunately, my lifelong eye condition prevents me from seeing a 3D effect. It would be certainly interesting to see the 3D effect, but it wasn't a deal breaker in purchasing the handheld. I'm more than happy with the 2D gaming the 3DS provides.

Always on. Whenever I try playing in 2D now, I struggle. Like my brain has forgotten how to properly look at a 2D image and infer the assumed depth. Though playing WiiU is no issue... I've just become too used to the 3D on my handheld.
I have gotten a headache one or twice. but I think that was mostly just from outside issues. Staring at a 3D screen or staring at a 2D screen would've still caused them.
