Topic: Do you have to push the Power Button 3 times to turn on your 3DS?

The great "sleep or shutdown" debate.

My 3DS has been perpetually "on" since I bought it at launch, with maybe 3 or 4 exceptions where it died when left off of the base. That's the way to go with today's devices... I know plenty of iPad owners, for instance, who have never even figure out how to shut if off fully, because the whole thing is built around sleeping rather than powering off, and it's the same with laptops.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

You can buy batteries from Nintendo for $15 anyway. They even show you how to replace them in your 3DS user manual.

Edit: And yeah, I have this problem too, though it's usually just two presses.

Mine ocationally wants to be pushed twice, I don't know if I need to hold it in or what but sometimes a second push starts it, must be a design flaw.

@ everyone - If you read the owners maunal (Yes I read it, all of it) you will find that after 500 charges the battery will be down to 70% of what was once the full charge, so it's not special and it can grow weaker.

Yeah, I have this problem a lot. I'm surprised it's so common, but at least I know now that it's more of a design flaw than an actual problem with my unit specifically.

My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

It doesn't say anything of the sort and I think you'll find that a Li-ion battery will last upto 400-1200 FULL recharge cycles. Emphasis on full recharge cycles because charging it from flat is what causes increased wear as well as storing it in full charge.

So leaving it in standby on the charger isn't going to cause significantly increased wear, leaving it in standby and taking it off the charger for a day won't either. Draining the battery 100% and recharging it will cause increased wear and so will having it sit around fully charged for days on end. So if you want to save your battery plug it into the wall where you can... and don't worry too much about standby.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I just press the power button and it turns on. It does take a little bit, though.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

The screens take about four seconds to turn on, but the blue light comes on instantaneously with the first tap of the button.

I too have had this problem, but its usually the second time that it turns on.

Is it just me, or have DS's been crappily made since the DS lite. I never had a problem with my DS lite, but the DSi had terrible L and R buttons, and the 3DS has this problem. I just want a sturdy system!
