If Splatoon flops then I think Nintendo would see it as there being no point moving outside of Mario, Zelda, Smash and party games (the only 1 million sellers on Wii U that aren't Mario, Zelda or Smash are Nintendo Land and Wii Party U) along with Pokémon for handhelds. Of course the huge question is whether the Splatoon hype translates into sales.
If they only ever stick to those games then Ninty may as well quit making consoles altogether but Splatoon should be successful, pre-orders are selling out/riding high on the charts and it's getting coverage in the gaming press.
Does anyone know if the Aliens can be cleared from each stage. So as you advance towards to 'goal' there are less of them, or do they keep regenerating as you defeat them?

I know where you're coming from. If you clear some stages quick enough then I've seen where no more appear. I've also seen endless spawning as well. I like to c clear a map before moving on but it's not always possible.

Wow, the game's only sold around 30,000 copies. Maybe 40,000 if you add digital.
I think the lesson to be learned is, if you're gonna start a new IP with a wacky art style, you've gotta make sure it gets critically acclaimed. Otherwise people ignore it.
I only played the demo. Just seemed very average. Had potential but certainly didn't do anything with it in the demo.
Like I say, new IP with a wacky art style, kinda gotta blow people away to get traction nowadays.
Crazy when you compare it to something like Splatoon. One just ticked all the right "get audience attention" boxes, the other hit none.
Lots of critically acclaimed new ips flop, Sunset Overdrive despite being the most interesting non-bleak new next gen IP has hardly set the world alight. The problem with STEAM was it's trying to appeal yo too many niche whilst not serving any of them, instead of it appealing to comic and steampunk fans comic fans were put off with the steampunk elements. and vice versa along with the other niche elements to it,
It's a shame that people from the get go only wanted to talk about this will/is a flop rather than the game itself like when I posted about a new tourney people just started talking about how it's a flop.

That's a pretty rough comparison! Sunset Overdrive's hit about 1 million sales. That is generally considered a success for most new IPs. It's also on an install base that's 1/5 of the 3DS.
(I'm far more excited to play the Ratchet & Clank game though)

Bayonetta sold 1m copies and it's considered a flop and I wasn't actually comparing STEAM and Overdrive sales only the claim critical reception on "wacky art" games works.

Right, I should've incorporated some sense of the install base into that. What I was saying is that I assume Sunset Overdrive selling 1 mil on an install base that was around 8-9 million at the time would be considered a success!
Bayonetta 1 was probably considered a failure because it was released to a combined install base of over 100 million (PS3+X360). I don't know if they consider Bayonetta 2 a failure though? That seemed to sell about 0.8mil. I doubt they could've done much better with that.
I sure hope not but most likely. I'm still playing it with my son which beat single player and I'm more then half way through. Now if I could only find any Fire Emblem Amiibo's I'd probably buy them all just for this game.

I want the Fire Emblem Amiibos for this game (and Fates) too and got Lucina (finally!) a few days ago but I'm waiting on the normal 3DS Amiibo reader to be released at long last to actually give it a try.
Has anybody been playing this game after finishing the campaign mode? For those who knows, is there a point to continue playing it? Some games offer new things, like things to unlock when finishing the campaign once more on a harder level.
I'm just done with the story campaign on normal.
I did my first playthrough with having the Lucina and Robin Amiibo, other characters of choise mostly Lion, Fox or Quepquaip.
Now to my question, I have the chance to pick up a Marth Amiibo at my local store for a normal price. Is it worth picking up more Amiibos for the game, for a second playthrough? Either Marth or Ike? Would one of those offer another playrange than in comparison to already exisiting characters?
I would then sell of my Meta Knight Amiibo to get one of those, since Marth or Ike's playability offers more than my Meta Knight. Else I don't have a bond to either Marth or Ike for that matter, just played Fire Emblem Awakening. I originally just wanted to have a Lucina and Robin Amiibo from the Fire Emblems.
