@Bolt_Strike In your opinion. I don't count Zelda as a RPG, if you did you would have to count almost every game as a RPG. The conversation was about variety, the conversation was about someone not liking Zelda and Paper Mario Color Splash, two big games from Nintendo (Color Splash is semi-big while Zelda is HUGE) so Nintendo doesn't have anything for them. I said nothing about variety. I only commented about how those two games are pretty vastly different and if you don't like both then Wii U probably isn't the right console for you. I said nothing of variety.

You can't just narrow down people's interests to two games, even within the Wii U's fanbase, you need more than that to represent the fanbase's interests. What if the person in question doesn't like single player games? What if they like another genre like platforming or racing or fighting? Bottom line, those two games only appeal to a certain chunk of the Nintendo fanbase and is entirely unacceptable as a lineup for the next 6 months.

Outside of platforming, if you aren't interested in these two games (which aren't even part of the main topic) then most likely Nintendo doesn't make enough games in the genres you do like to justify purchasing their hardware.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.

Nintendo do offer a few variety of hack-n-slash too, solid ones too (namely Bayonetta and Wonderful 101). Though I did get the Wii u mostly for platformers and SSB.

Off topic: can someone explain to me how to quote, I'm a noob

Click "Quote" on the post you want to quote. You can also use [ quote= insert name here] and [ /quote] at the beginning and end of a sentence / paragraph to present it in a quoted style (remove the spaces between the brackets and the rest of the "command").

Thank you
I thought the option was missing but maybe because I am on my phone so it requires me to press on the message first before the quote link jumps out

Undead_terror

Anyone know what amiibo can be used in the game? I tested out my Mario/Luigi/peach/Bowser/Zero suit and they all gave mii something special, but other amiibo gave mii a skull paint job, dunno if like DK can be used or not, Yoshi/Toad/Kirby series/splatoon series/Zelda series/pokemon series/Star Fox series/Rob, Sonic cant' be use, there is others I tried but it's stuff I knew wasn't going to work.

I played the demo of blast ball for a bit...

Well for one, I have an issue with "blast ball". I'm still giving the game a chance with the story mode, cause the blast ball part of it... not enjoyable in the slightest. Its honestly frustrating with the controls and it doesn't feel consistent in it's movement when you shoot it, not to mention one tiny screw up, and its over, AI or human its a struggle to move the ball. I don't know if it'll be better with more people rather than one AI, but I can see it becoming unpleasent with either trolls, lag, cause in general the physics of the ball feel very off, like you're not doing anything and it's moving on its own.

The game itself tho, it feels ok. Needs some getting used to but it feels playable and comfortable, looking up feels very painful and unresponsive at times, and I mean way more unresponsive than the first two primes with ngc controller.

Its a game I feel with be irriating to play at times, but we'll have to see what the story actually offers cause the mini game, blast ball, is an utter failure imo.

@MegaBeedrill Wow, from the way you describe it, it seems we are playing completely different games. I am loving blast ball. Very fun and it is something easy to puck up but hard to master, similar to Rocket League in a lot of ways lol

I thought it was fairly enjoyable with the Circle Pad Pro. Not as good as Rocket League though.

Just figured I'd post a few tricks I've spotted whilst playing Blast Ball:

1) The shield can damage other players [from the other team, of course]. You can use it to deflect the ball easily or cause someone to eject by walking into them constantly.
2) You can damage other players; for example, you can force them to eject by shooting at them constantly by holding R and aiming at them. Very useful if someone is defending very well, or if someone is camping in front of a small goal.
3) When people are about to be ejected, I've seen them move to be in front of the goal so they can easily defend if they respawn in time, or, in the case of the small goals (caused when 2 goals are scored), make it slightly harder to get the ball in, as, if you do this, the ball will (in most cases) just bounce off your shell as you respawn.
4) This may seem stupid, but using the voice commands can actually be useful. Good ones to keep assigned to the D-Pad include: "Defence!", "Offence!", "I'll go defence!" and "I'll go offence!"; seems to actually help by letting people know what you're going to do.
5) Practice; there are two separate modes for practising, and after playing them a few times, I got to grips with the controls even better. For example, you can press L to lock on to the ball and R to use the motion controls to aim at a certain part of the ball to change its direction, such as hitting it in the bottom corners to slightly move it in the opposite direction (bottom left to go right, and vice versa).

@buildz I've done your number 5 right from the start and twice now have got a 2 second goal. Of course once everyone figures that out it won't be so easy to do that anymore.

Played the demo for fifteen minutes or so. The whole experience was weird and uncomfortable. I particularly didn't care for the gyro aiming, which is weird, because I love gyro aiming in other games like Majora's Mask 3D.

I think gyro aiming is really only fun when it's for fine tuning something, rather than solely reliant on the gyro entirely.

I completely agree! I for one think it's a neat idea to have so many different voice commands, however, I do hope that most people are wise, and have useful sayings, like "Defense!" and "Offensive!" active, and not just "Hello", "Goal!", "Sorry", "Go Go Go" etc. The voice commands remind me of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon online, and the commands there are extremely helpful. Seeing how well voice commands work in this game and Dark Moon make me wish Splatoon had commands as well, like "Enemy on left!", "Fall back!" etc.

As for the game itself... it's not bad, but it didn't impress me at the same time. It's better than I overall imagined, but it still has it's flaws. I mainly hate how you respawn. I understand the timing, but I hate how the screen fades black right before you're ready to move again. Kinda disorients me. :/ The controls definitely take some getting used to, but they do work pretty well, except the gyro can be a bit annoying, imo.

Controls are fine. Very Corruption/Trilogy-esq.

Blast Ball isn't as good as it should be. You're just shooting a ball. The game has depth, but it's repetitive. It's more enjoyable to shoot other players/AI and have them have a little fire fight.

Anyone else played the True FF demo Combat Sim? It's better than Prime Hunters. And that's it.

Another small tip:

6) Sidestepping is a good technique that you should get to grips with, especially if you are defending. It can be useful, if, for example, you are defending on the left side of the pitch and the ball begins to head to the right, and vice versa.

So what does everyone prefer for the controls? I've been switching between them a lot on my new 3DS and while I prefer aiming with gyro controls, I prefer moving around with the c-stick. I think the main reason I don't like aiming as much is because of the c-stick. Even gave it a try on my old XL with the CPP and I had no problems at all. May end up getting the game physically because of that.
I really wish there was a way I could use a CPP with the new 3DS since I prefer the placement of the ZL/ZR buttons and also the second circle pad over the c-stick as well.

I'm not very good at this...

I've played three practice matches, and lost all of them (I'm lucky to score one goal, lol).

Oh, and I keep ejecting for some reason. I'm not even talking about when you get damaged too much and blow up (which has happened once), I get a message saying "ejection imminent", and my little guy goes flying out of the mech.
