I had an interesting idea yesterday as to a use for the AR feature of the 3DS (it may not be a new idea, but it's new to me!).
It's a step forward for the virtual board game genre: the Augmented Reality Board Game!
The concept would be that you place the card (or similar object) in the center of your playing area (preferably a table), and each of the players take a seat around it. Thus, everyone would get a separate view of it like a real board game. However, unlike a real board game, it does not necessarily need to be flat or sit still. It could have plenty of animated features and special effects; and/or minigames to play intermittently. It has loads of potential in my mind: like shaking the system to throw dice. Not to mention that if you get angry, you could throw the card and the game disappears!
If you shook the system, how would you keep the cameras on the ar card?

I think it would be much easier playing the actual board game than using the 3ds to try aim at the "AR card"
Well, my thought was that if you got tired, you could set the system down, at no detriment to the others. Granted, you wouldn't be able to see what everyone else did on their turns; but I think you should have the ability to put it down.
Now that we've established it as a good idea, what kind of games would you like to see presented this way? I think LIFE would be a good fit, as well as Sorry! or Clue.

I'd rather see real board games. Puerto Rico or Catan, kthx.
