I just got this game today and so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit, especially the charm the game has as well as the fun puzzles it offers. I know some people were mixed with their opinions upon its release but overall it got very good reviews and I can sure see why, there is lots to love here.

Its no Mario 3D Land or anything but it certainly appears to be a fun and interesting game with lots to offer the player. What do you guys think of it?

As much as I loved playing SM3DL LM2 was much better and actually provided a challenge with later stages while also offering tons of replay value, SM3DL was far too easy and short IMO.

I don't think SM3DL was short. The difficulty is on your own preferences - To me it wasn't easy but neither was it hard, medium I would say.
Playing with Mario and Luigi all stages each, getting all gold flags and collecting all star coins takes some real time.

LM2 was good for me, but not any better than 3D Land.
I was a bit disappointed that LM2 hasn't got this ghosts with some kind of personalities like the first title had.
I would rate this game somewhere below 3D Land.

@BlueBlurIxM One level only one level that required actual skill in SM3DL and you had to 100% to play it the rest of the game was rather easy fun but easy, also the fact that you had to double gold flagpole every level was a cheap way to extend the length of the game for completionists nothing more I still enjoyed the game just think it could have been a lot more challenging again just my opinion.

I can't really compare this with 3D Land, though Land's main game was easy and short-ish, the Special portion was pretty challenging and chaotic...especially the Cosmic Mario parts.
Dark Moon I just love because...well, uh...I dunno, lol. Love the humor mainly, as well as the bosses. The game itself is just as challenging, especially if you plan on 100%ing it.

Too Short? _really? I felt that it had the perfect leangth, given the games tedious-nature. I can only vacuum so many ghosts, tap objects with my hand and trudge through the same locations so many times. I'll admit, i wanted the game to end sooner than it did.

Besides, you can always hunt down the hidden boo's and the rest of the gems which also unlocks a secret ghost hunting stage for each mansion. The major downside to doing the above is that you have to complete EACH mission all over again to come back with the boo or gems that you found. no thanks, and your reward for 100%'n the game? i wont even say but it's a bloody joke.lol

....Is it like NSMB2 and its...gold trophy thing? lol

I had this and loved it but ended up trading it in for a XL. Got it again for my birthday but have yet to pick it up again because I've been busy with Pokemon X & Y and Animal Crossing New Leaf.

It was a really good game indeed, it's sad that there was no dlc, I thought it would of been awesome if the released the old mansion as dlc or a spooky mansion for Halloween.
Another thing is that they never used any of the old ghosts which would of been nice to see.

Agreed! The ghosts in Dark Moon are laughable. But to be fair I'm happy they made a sequel to the original now if only the next game can show up soon.....

As for me I still love the original one better!

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Especially the possessors, lol. They're no portrait ghosts, but at least you get to fight, uh, whatever thing they possess.

great game, awesomely fun multiplayer. the ghosts weren't as cool as the ones in LM(the first) but they fit the new funny mood in Dark Moon's setting quite well.

goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I really enjoyed it. Fun gameplay in both single player and the ScareScraper (although the latter needs some technical fixes/patches pronto), fantastic graphics, one of the best soundtracks in gaming, I could go and on.

As for the ghosts... I liked the ones in Dark Moon. Oh sure, the lack of portrait ghosts was disappointing, but I thought the normal ones were far better than the original game's normal ghosts, having both more personality and a lot more intelligence and such in their battle tactics. And the Possessors are actually one of the creepiest concepts in fiction if you think about it. I mean, ghosts which can possess anything (living, dead or inanimate)? Turn them into monsters with weird attacks? Animate multiple individuals at a time? You could probably make the Possessor concept fit in a Doctor Who episode by merely changing the designs a bit.

I definitely want a sequel too. Just make sure it adds in the stuff mentioned here:

I'm currently addicted to Dark Moon and have been having a blast playing through the first set of levels and then going back to find the gems and extra cash throughout the levels, it's one of those strangely addicting games that I can get lost in and forget I've been playing it for an hour or so. There is lot's of charm within this game, Luigi is such an underdog and a character I cant help but to root for when he gets a little spotlight his way. I love the way he talks to his counterpart on his DS as well as the way he hums along to the music within the game, all of that plus the way he acts so scared and pathetic in certain scenes make me chuckle at my 3DS as I navigate my way through the rooms. It's quite a pleasure to play, really.
