Super Mario 3D World. After something around 60 hrs I still can't get enough of this game, even though I beat champion road with all characters. It's everything I expected from Mario game and more - this game is pure fun and gold, and they got rid off everything I hated about Galaxies. That's my number 1. The second is The Wonderful 101 - I know I will replay it soon on hard to get platinum on everything! Others in no particiular order
3. Dual Destinies
4. Metal Gear Rising
5. Arkham Origins
6. Metro
7. Enemy Within
8. Tomb Raider
9. DmC
10. The Last of Us
My GOTY is Rayman Legends unless AA5 ends up as the best game in that series by the end or The Stanley Parable ends up being fresh despite watching a large chunk of the game already.
I'd say MY GOTY for the 3DS is Animal Crossing New Leaf. It's such a well put together game with a great social experience. I sadly don't have the game anymore, but it's still incredible.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
up to now it is a draw between FE:A and MH3U but soon it may change(or not)
and SteamWorld Dig as the best Eshop game of the year!
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

You lost me when you said Zelda has been in a slump the past few years
If Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks don't count as a slump, I don't know what does...and maybe it's just me, but I couldn't find anything to like about Skyward Sword, either. (and yes, I did go back to it, and my opinion of it has only soured more with each attempt)
@CanisWolfred Hey! You have a new profile picture Yea I agree, Zelda has definitely been in a slump. Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, Skyward Sword etc are all decent games but really disappointing Zelda games and garbage compared to the likes of Link to the Past and the N64 titles. Link Between Worlds is a welcome return to form! What did you think of Link Between Worlds? Have you played it yet?
@CanisWolfred
I enjoyed both Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. No, they weren't the best in the series, but they were fresh and interesting. I know not many people agree with me on this, but I think Skyward Sword is on of the best games in the entire series.
@MeWario
I think calling the games garbage is pretty extreme.
It also suffers the terrible fate of being a brand new IP from Nintendo like everyone wanted, but no one bought it. It's a beautiful and challenging game full of non-stop action, superheroes, bright vivid colors, story, collectables, characters, drama, comedy, and so much more! It also has one of the most satisfying endings to a game I've ever played.
Oh yeah, my GOTY is currently Etrian Odyssey IV. In fact, most of my gaming time this year playing Etrian Odyssey. I still gotta play EO Untold, A Link Between Worlds, and Ys Vita, though. Ni no Kuni's also slowly becoming my Game of the Year.

I want to play Ni No Kuni so bad. I need a PS3.. when I first saw Ni No Kuni and that it was done from Miyozaki I was amazed. I convinced my friend who used to be big on RPG's to buy it but he never really got into it, which surprised me. I still want to play it though I know I'll like it. I should just cave and buy a PS3. -_-
Home Console GotY: Pikmin 3 (WiiU)
It's one of the few games I ever played that manages to satisfy my two "player sides", as it is both mindlessly fun and poetic at the same time. As silly as it sounds, I actually feel like s**t when I waste some Pikmin's life or can't save all of them. Plus, with every DLC they are adding more substance to an already brilliant concept (Mission Mode) and this is making the game better and better.
Handheld GotY: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (3DS)
I've played very few hh games released this year because I got my 3DS back only recently (actually I had to buy another one). I haven't finished Dual Destinies yet but it's shaping up one of the finest AA games ever. I have played all the AA games but not in order - Trials and Tribulations was the last one I played and it really disappointed me because it was sooooo long winded and verbose, it really was Phoenix Wright's Be Here Now. So far Dual Destinies is brilliant and if it keeps this pace to the end is going to be the best episode in the saga.
Indie GotY: Cloudberry Kingdom (WiiU et al)
Usually high-profile western indie games go hand in hand with a high desire to communicate "something" metaphorically , or at least generate emotions that go beyond the game itself (see Braid, Little Inferno, Limbo etc) but Clodberry Kingdom doesn't pretend it has something to say - it's just pure fun of the highest caliber. I think trial and error games are, for some reason, very rewarding and CK is just a continuous trial and error thingy, which I though was incredibly satisfying to play.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
Well, up until the moment I started Fire Emblem this would have been a contest between ACNL and Pokemon, but now that I've played Fire Emblem, it's Fire Emblem.
