I was the one that was waiting for a White 3DS... and I just got the Midnight Purple. I should have just bought the damn thing early cause your not even going to care about the actual color when your playing it.
@waveboy I got the Red and Black 3DS XL and I love it so much, what's wrong with you? Great combination if you ask me. I'm saying its great because when the original 3DS came out at launch, they were going to release the red one but it didn't come out for another 6-8 months, so I ended up getting the black one. Personally I think black on its own is dull, simply because every other portable I own is either White, silver or black, I thought i'd break the tradition and get a red handheld instead.
You're stupid for thinking they'll bring out a banana yellow Wii U, there was a limited edition only for the N64 that was for DK64 and it had a yellow cartridge & controller (I think, or is it that wario controller for the GCN?), but not for the Wii U, i'm pretty sure that won't be happening.

@RetroGBHippie92 Waveboy was kidding about the color thing. If you read an earlier post you would get it!
My favorite color is red yet when I went to pick a color I didn't think twice about red. I went with blue basicly for the same reason waveboy said. I don't want a red handheld system for some reason. This royal blue one just looks so sexy!
I'm love my XL more and more each day. One of my 3ds friends once said when is was first announced it looked like a Fisher Price toy and on looks alone I kinda thought the same thing. After almost a week with it I now feel like its the best thing since sliced bread. It just feels well put together. It has a nice weight to it and the color sings to me. The screen is lovely to look at. The sounds is slightly lower then the 3ds but somehow it sounds better in surround mode then the 3ds. I like the rounds feel to the system and all the buttons and circle pad just feel right. I still take it everywhere with me as well. Fits in my pocket nicely. Good thing jeans and shorts (at least for a guy) are not the choice of the 80s which some refer to as nutters!
Ya, and forget the white & Black Wii U...I'm not getting it either. Instead I'll wait for Nintendo to release it in Banana Yellow. Only THEN will i transend to NextGen Nintendo!. Durp!
In the case of particular colors like that, many people just paint their systems.
I'm very curious as to why you think it's moronic to wait for a specific color. I wouldn't buy a car in a color I don't like, but just the same, it's all the same once you're inside.
If Nintendo was simply not going to make other colors, then no one be bother being picky. But when they have already released other colors in other countries, and have a history of pumping out new colors of system (heck, the DSi got some new colors even after the 3DS launched), you might as well wait for one you like if you have the patience. I'm not saying hold out until Nintendo releases a 'mocha and mauve delight' colored 3DS, just that if you wait they'll eventually make some color you may like more than what is already available.
I love my new red 3DS XL. The color is more accurately wine or deep red. The Blue 3DS XL also looks equally nicer, when you actuall see one in person For the most part I don't really care about color. I mainly own a 3DS XL because of the massive screens, and increased battery life! I love that the 3DS XL insides are black, leaving no distraction
@Waveboy The DSi XL is great for Screen resolution, but if you want to play DS games on the 3DS XL you may be disappointed. The DS graphics on the 3DS XLs screens are a little blurry but I guess it's alright if you can stand a tiny bit of blurriness.
Personally I think 3DS games are amazing on the XL, the new screen size doesn't increase pixel size and overall it's a better upgrade than the DSi XL was from the regular DSi. I love my DSi XL but for some reason recently the southwest corner of plastic in between the d-pad has chipped off some how, making me somewhat suspicious that Nintendo didn't use hard enough plastic to form the DSi Xls shell. Does anyone think the d pad could pop out of my DSi or should it be ok? it looks fine to me, but I don't want it turning into a paperweight if you know what i'm saying.

Native resolution my friends. With the bigger screen size its not even noticeable. Which actually makes it about the same size as the dsi.
As for the system its self. The only problem I see is the highest brightness from the 3ds seems to be turned down a notch on the XL! All that means is the colors are not quite as vibrant as they could be. I like my brightness at max!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Aren't the colors supposed to be more rich and vibrant on the XL? Anyways, you guys need to 1:1 (hold Star + Select) for your DS games to get that crisp 1:1 ratio, same deal with VC hand held titles. Ugh, i mean really want to get an XL...But i'm having a tricky time saving up for a 50" 1080p Plasma and the Wii U right about now. I'm not even ready for the Wii U considering the back log of Wii games i need to play, but there's no way i'm missing out on the Launch. It's tradition!
Good luck saving, I'm not even allowed to save up, nor work because of health reasons, but I would really like to buy a Wii U too. I saved up enough money for my 3DS XL and a few more games, but unfortunately they left the Wii U news too late, I would've considered buying a Wii U instead if they had done so earlier, like at E3 or just perhaps an earlier Nintendo Direct.

@Waveboy I think it was '08 I ended up buying the Wii, But I saved up my own money and only managed to get one game, that was Twilight Princess and that is still one of my favourite Zelda games of all time, They need a title like TP on 3DS, i'm not saying Majora's Mask 3D, But not a Toon Link zelda title either, they've done those since the GBA.
A mature Zelda is what both the 3DS and the Wii U need and we know it's possible because developers/companies like Capcom are making Monster Hunter 3G Ultimate and MH4. The 3DS Xl would definitely benefit from a Mature Zelda IMO, I still haven't played SS yet since my wiis disk drive has been out of order, but now that's fixed....
Yeah, off topic but in relation, my health problem is that I have Cancer and the type I have (doesn't matter since there's too much to explain) requires me to visit the hospital every few weeks for Chemo or treatment. I bought my XL after having my old 3DS since launch last year and using it a lot runs down the capacity of the battery. Having my 3DS Xl now means I can replay all the awesome games that i've purchased over the last year (and 3/4)!
There's nothing i particularly dislike about the 3DS XL, but I still see the lack of a second thumbstick hurting the 3DS' chances of getting more and more great games like Resident Evil: Revelations, however I neither love or hate the Circle Pad Pro, the peripheral was an afterthought yes, but developers could be making great AAA games that take advantage of the control scheme. I haven't bought Kingdom hearts 3D yet, but that was meant to use the CCP and having heard from other gamers, it isn't totally necessary to enjoy or enhance gameplay.

Honestly when I first loaded up the 3ds XL I wasn't that impressed! A couple of days later I'm its biggest fan. You do notice the jaggies a bit more but after a while you just don't notice them at all. I guess without a 3ds to compare it to anymore it just look great!
The bigger screen is nice and definitely helping in games. Better battery life can never hurt.
The only con i can think of is the weaker volume compared to Dsi Xl for instance. And the cheap inner case.
The buttons are all right but every time you rub or touch the inner plastic case with your nail and it makes that plastic sound it just sound so cheap.
Sounds like it could break easily too.
The outer shell and matte finish is all fine though.
But well the XL beeing only 40 bucks more expensive than the regular 3ds has to have a reason i guess.
I prefer the robust feeling of the regular 3ds and the polished outer design. We will see how streetpassing and running around with a XL turns out to be.
@WaveWitch After over a month with mine it looks as sharp as a regular 3ds. I never even noticed the yellow glow. I even put up the same screen as you have pictured and its bright white. Store models probably aren't the best model to base your opinion off of. I think users are better for some reason! I could never go back to that dinky screen again. 100% happy with my purchase!
I don't know if anyone has posted anything about this yet, but apparently you can get a charging cradle for the 3DS XL from Nintendo's online store here.
I had the original 3DS last year, but returned it expecting Nintendo to release a newer version with a second analog nub. Then they announced the 3DS XL in silver, blue and red, I got excited about the silver color and the larger screen size, but not the missing second analog nub or missing silver model. I ended up getting the red model, but was very unhappy with the shade, until I saw it on display in blue the other day and loved it, so I exchanged it. Regarding the color, I've noticed with both red and blue, it looks painted on. Has anyone noticed any wear in the red or blue paint app on their system?
Anywho, on to likes and dislikes...
LIke:
Screen size (Competes well with my PS Vita)
current library of games (New titles and classic remakes I grew up with!)
anti-glare screen (More handheld devices need this)
the curved edges (Makes it so much easier to slide in and out of pockets)
the physical select/home/start buttons (I couldn't stand the pseudo touch buttons on the earlier model)
Battery life (Keeps going and going and going....)
Dislike:
Weight (Cramps up the hands when holding it in the wrong position)
"Sweet spot" (I had more movement with the earlier model and could still see the 3D)
Painted on color (I'm worried it's going to wear down to the black under plastic)
Stylus doesn't expand/contract
No silver color as originally promised
No anti-glare on touchscreen
touchscreen is still uses that top layer

I like your positive comments, but I couldnt disagree more about these points. The colours are brilliant, the colour doesn't even look "painted on" as you say, just a really nice shade for each of the models.
The sweet spot is actually much better on the XL, believe me I actually hated the original models' screen because you had to look directly in the centre, with the XL model you hardly need to stare straight at all.
Also what? you don't like the fact the stylus wasn't expandable/contractable? Umm yeah that and the placement on the original model was a terrible feature on the 3DS, I could also say that this was well remedied in the current model and actually better, both in terms of placement, shape and size.

The surface does looks beautiful and brilliant, more-so with the blue model, but look closely at the edges, especially where the blue meets black back by the hing, and you'll notice it was painted on. My concern is that it will eventually wear down, revealing the black underneath, mostly on the bottom of the system.
I can slightly open my XL's under cover (it's quite annoying actually) and it looks like the inner part of the shell is made out of black plastic, but I can also notice that the color is not painted on, but another thinner layer of plastic.
@ixnine Nope I think the 'paint' thing you're talking about might only afflict your model, I can't see any signs of wearing or chipping on mine, maybe you just got a bad one.
