Massive big bright color screens. Everything looks bigger, better, and more cinematic!
The anti glare is nice outside.
The way the screen locks into three perfect viewing positions is way more solid.
The 3DS XL's Ergonomics leave my hands relaxed while playing, rounded edges keep it from digging into my palms.
Battery Life rocks. I'm getting around 5 and a half to 6 hours on 4 brightness with power save on, playing 3DS titles only.

Dislikes:

Volume is the same as 3DS. However with headphones, it is louder and you'll hear way more nuances in the music score!
Matte color is good for prints but does not eliminate them.

I haven't even had it for a week yet, bought it on Tuesday, and it's a really wonderful console. Screenshots and videos don't do it justice, it really has to be seen and held to be truly valued.

The 3DS XL feels nicer to hold and it looks a lot better than the 3DS, probably because of the matte finish but it also doesn't have those '3-layer' colours that the 3DS has on the sides.

You have more space for your thumbs and the L and R buttons are bigger and easier to use.

The speakers aren't upgraded, but the volume from some good earphones are so much better compared to the original 3DS, I found it far too quiet even with my friends Beats headphones.

The better battery life is also a massive plus, I can play for hours and it hardly ever goes into the red.

Yes I don't have any DS games. I mainly play 3DS stuff only.

Yeah I do like the Matte finish but I lost it as a dislike as it can still get oily fingerprints. But it looks better longer for sure.
I also think that all handhelds, including Vita have weak sound, but try some quality earbuds, and you're there!

My only dislike is the decreased portability. Now I only bring it to and from work, when I have a bag it can fit in. Going to Best Buy or GameStop? Not until I start wearing a jacket. Otherwise, this thing is absolutely amazing and worth every penny, IMO.

I don't have that problem with portability, it slips into my pocket perfectly fine... it's an all round good handheld I'd say.

  • Big sccreens are great and everything looks nice on it
  • Anti-glare is rather useful while travelling
  • Longer battery is always a plus (not that my 3DS has ever run out without me being able to charge it)
  • Once getting used to, it's relatively comfortable (although probably not as much as the original 3DS for me)
  • You can watch other people play with the 3D switched on
  • Not going to get dirty as easily as my original 3DS
  • It's a nice blue
  • No scratches on the top screen and both shoulder buttons work (for now)
  • The monstrosity which is called the DSi XL is now completely redundant and I hopefully will never have to look at one again

Dislikes:

  • The speakers are terrible and some certain sounds don't come out well at max volume
  • Worse for playing Kid Icarus: Uprising (Gotta move my hand around more to cover the whole screen with the reticle, and the powers are a bit of a stretch to use quickly in the heat of battle)
  • No Circle Pad Pro support yet
  • No improvement to internal memory so still can't fit all my DSiWare
  • I miss playing with the retractable stylus
  • It emptied my bank account

That might be the only good thing about the 3DSXL

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

@BenAV Lol, it emptied your bank account? I'd say that's a massive dislike there. Thankfully I got some extra money from the work I did so it only damaged mine (phew).

It's almost as if my normal 3DS's screens had shrunk and became 3 times smaller after I got the XL!
I can barely play it now.

The XL also looks pretty sweet. I love it.

Though, it seems the sound is lower and the image is darker at times.
And I can't use the stylus as an ear pick now.

Bloop.

Lol @ damaged bank accounts. Bottom line 3DS XL is a joy to play while being broke

I know right? The original 3DS is so tiny and miniscule now... I can't look at the screens because they're so tiny... the XL changes your life!

I've recently seen a 3DS XL with my own eyes.
Pictures do NOT give it justice. I have seen loads of comparison pictures but seeing it with my own eyes it's amazing.
The thing is HUGE and ridiculously comfortable compared the original 3DS.
I was tempted to trade in my 3DS there and then, but I decided to wait until they bring out a limited edition first (specifically a Legend of Zelda 3DS XL).

@Chris720 When I thought saw it I thought and hoped it was real. Unfortunately it was not.
If they don't bring one out, I'll just buy a silver 3DS XL and make my own housing for it.
