Which roguelike/mystery dungeon game would you recommend on 3DS in Europe? I really liked Chocobo's Dungeon on Wii, but that was probably from the easiest end of the spectrum. Baroque didn't really do it for me, possibly because of the real-time combat.

I think the 3DS only has two games like that, plus one incoming: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (which I haven't heard good things about concerning the 3DS one) and Excave (which I hear is decent if not terribly surprising), and Etrian Mystery Dungeon is coming soon. I don't think the latter two are in/coming to Europe yet, though...

Link Between Worlds, MH4U, or OOT3D?

A Link Between Worlds is one of my favorite 3DS games, and an absolute gem. It is, by far, the shortest game on the list, though, and lasts somewhere between 15 to 25 hours on a first playthrough if you take your time and explore. The game has several new mechanics in it that make it one of the most unique and enjoyable entries in the Zelda franchise, though, with non-linear game progression and a new mechanic for Link that really innovates in terms of how puzzles play out.

OoT3D is... OoT. With much nicer graphics and more comfortable controls. It's not one of my favorites, but it is unquestionably a longer game. My first playthrough took me upwards of 50 hours to beat, and it includes a Master Quest as well if you want to replay it.

MH4U will potentially last hundreds of hours. It's an absolutely massive game. It's also grindy and pretty hardcore in terms of difficulty.

I'd recommend ALBW for its sheer quality, but if game length is important to you, definitely go with MH4U instead, as it will last you many, many hours.

Ugh. Men.

I'm getting a n3ds xl soon.
One of the reasons are the rpg's on the console, however i'm very new to the genre and wondering which games would be best for a sorta beginner in the turn based rpg genre.
I played some Pokemon blue, but the whole collecting thing never really caught me. I also played Final Fantasy X, i thought the story and game play were great. the talent tree(grid?) was very confusing for me.
I enjoy a good story, so i would appreciate if it had that.
I have looked at
Bravely Default
Fire Emblem Awakening (the combat seems kinda hard, but the story great)
Fantasy Life (very mixed reviews from that one)
Other titles you can recommend?

If you're new to rpg's I highly suggest Fantasy Life first as it's easier yet has its challenge as well. Its more straight forward then most and simple to pick up. Most people despite the reviews love it when they actually start playing it. I put in 195 hours before I called it quits.

Here is a list of others you can dl demos for when you get your system.

Etrain Odyssey IV
Etrain Odyssey Untold
Denpa Men 1, 2, and 3
Mario and Luigi Dream Team
Citizens of Earth

Of course Bravely Default and Fire Emblem also have demos as well.

And here's a list of other good rpg's that shouldn't be missed but might be more on the harder side.

SMT IV
Devil Survivor Overclocked
Devil Summoner Soul Hackers
Persona Q

If youre into turn based RPGS, I highly recommend both bravely default and pokemon omega rubyalpha sapphir. fire emblem is also great, but a bit more strategic in terms of gameplay, but if you love the genre youll have a blast. fantasy life is one of my personal favorites, being a mixed RPG and a sim- you dont just explore the world and lvl up, you also build your own life through jobs and quests. very addictive =]

I forgot about demo's. Seems like Fantasy Life might be a good choice, all though it looks like a lot of dialogue and less action. I guess i have to try out the demos before buying one.
Story wise only which game would be the strongest?

That's a tough one as it's subjective. I may like a story of a game and someone else might not. For instance I really like the dialog in Fantasy Life but many other thought the story was too light and the writing almost childish. Once again different opinions.

Etrain Odyssey Untold is the remake of the first game in the series. The series isn't known for its story's but is for its gameplay. This game however adds a story more and updates the game to be more inline with recent outings. Its much more story focussed. I can't speak for Persona Q but I also believe it has a good story. Fire Emblem is also very good but the dialog between characters is what most focussed on. Bravley's is also good.

However my favorite of all of these for just story alone would have to be SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked. It's fully voiced and at least for me kept me on my seat till the end! You have a lot of good choices so you can't go wrong with any I listed.

Forgive me, my gaming vocabulary is weak, but I'd like some recommendations along the lines of the following:

I'm looking for story-based adventure games, but I don't really seem to get on too well with RPG-staple mechanics of non-free-flowing combat. I like the Zelda games for their free-flowing adventuring, but while I like the story and environment of Xenoblade Chronicles, I don't like the combat system, and from what I gather most RPGs rely on turn-based or or some other 'system' (levelling, messing around with gear/spells) of combat rather than just swinging/shooting.

I don't even necessarily want any combat. Story and adventure is what I'm after, the best the 3DS has to offer. Puzzles are welcome provided they're not just repetitive and simplistic.

I'm gradually acquiring all the Zeldas (I have MM and ALBW, and will be buying OoT today) so I don't need to hear about them, and I'm also planning to get the 999 and Virtue's Last Reward games.

Having said all the above, I'm going to buy SMT4, but only cos it's on sale, I don't think I'll like the combat.

Thanks all. Hit me.

Sounds like Fantasy Life would be perfect for you. While the story isn't particularly great it's better then most Zelda ones.

@gcunit Just of the top of my head, without much thought behind it, I'd suggest checking out the Ace Attorny series. Mind you, it's around 1:30am for me right now, my suggestion could be off the mark.
Good luck.

Has anyone played either of these 2 games? :

WRC FIA World Rally Championship - 3DS
I Love My Horse - 3DS

I played the demo for both from the 3DS E-shop. Going to get both next week. Want to finish my club nintendo account before june with the coins etc. Only 50 coins away from getting Dillon's Rolling Western Last Ranger - 3DSware. Both 3DS games are worth 30 coins a peice on Club Nintendo.

I've been wanting to try both games though for a while now.

Happy Gaming! (^_^)

You better register them before March 31st as that's the last day to earn coins. You can spend them till June but not register them. All surveys end on that date.

Need a little help with an eShop decision. Which one of these three should I get:

Shovel Knight
Citizens of Earth
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

I'm planning on getting a €15 when the Mewtwo Smash DLC comes out. I still have €3 credit left. So I may not even be able to get Shovel Knight if Mewtwo costs more than €3 (which he probably does)

Get Shovel Knight first if you can. If not then citizens of Earth is also really good. As for Zelda 2, some think it's the worst of the Zelda games but I happen to love it. It does stray far from the normal formula though and is harder then most if not all the others. If you're a Zelda fan then you owe it to yourself to play it, of not then you've been warned lol.

Thanks. From what I've tried from Zelda II in Ultimate NES Remix, it definitely looks like it's a lot of fun. I think Shovel Knight really is on the top of my list. I have also tried the Citizens of Earth demo, and it was a lot of fun. I'll try to get Shovel Knight, if I can't afford it then I'll see which one I pick, though it'll probably be Zelda II

I wanted to ask here instead of the Club Nintendo thread because I have some specific questions about the games. I am trying to decide between Mario Golf: World Tour and Yoshi's New Island. I know most people on here would just automatically say Golf, but is Yoshi really a bad game or do people just think it is too similar to previous games, kind of like the complaint with New Super Mario Bros. 2? Because I am enjoying NSMB2 so far (I just got it in the final Club Nintendo rewards so haven't played much yet), and I'm sure I would enjoy Yoshi, too. And how much is Nintendo still supporting Golf with online tournaments and things like that, because that seems to be the reason to keep coming back to it? And can you quit in the middle of a match and come back, because I rarely have enough time to sit down and play a whole 18 hole match in one sitting? Thanks for any answers.

Hi all,

Hope you all don't mind me asking (just registered) but about two years ago I stepped away from the Wii towards PC/PS3 Gaming. Last month I bought the Wii U , simply because the strain to resist the company who made me a gamer in the first place was just to hard to resist. Ever since that moment I had a great time and before I knew it, two days ago I stood in the store to buy myself a New 3DS Limited Majora's Mask Edition with the TLoZ:OoT game.

Currently I'm kinda looking for a backlog/list of games that are really worth it to play on the N3DS system. Sidenote is that I've always been quite a huge gamer so feel free to list every game that comes to mind. Any help is greatly appreciated to catch up with the experience I've been missing since the normal DS system. I already possess TLoZ: OoT & TLoZ: MM.

Smash 4 — if you don't have it on the Wii U
Codename Steam-- If you like 3rd person tactical strategy a la fire emblem with a comic book-y art style
TLoZ: Link between worlds-- if you loved Link to the past
Fire Emblem: Awakening --if you like Strategy/fantasy games
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D(to be released shortly) — If you've never played the Wii Classic and like Expansive Real time RPG games.
Pokemon X/Y or the ORAS remakes if you....well like pokemon.
Etrian Odyssey series-- if you like first person dungeon crawling and deep RPG mechanics and gameplay as well as a decent story.

Thanks, a nice start - more games are still welcome ofcourse.

I have smash 4 on the Wii U, does it still has any value to still get this on N3DS at that point? Going to look in to Codename Steam, haven't heared about the game so far so might be interesting.

Also I haven't played any Zelda so far beside Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Windwaker & Twilight Princess. If I wanna start with the DS Games of Zelda, start with Link to the Past?

Never played Xenoblade, only know it by Shulk from SSB 4 so also going to look at this game. I was planning to buy a Pokemon game. Last one I played was Ruby/Saphire back in the days. Are the Pearl/Diamond/Black/White/X/Y worth it, if so what is best to start with? I have no clue what the logical order of the games is since Ruby. Last of all, also going to look at Etrian Odysses, Dungeons & RPG's are one of the things I love from Zelda so this might be an interesting buy.

Should I get KI:Uprising? (from club nintendo)

Seems the only good 3ds game to get from that list.

New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, a remake of Super Mario Bros 1 and The Lost Levels for NSMBDS.
