My first post in the new 3DS topic of the forums, hooray.
The following specs are from Nintendo's website, if you've not found them yet:
Size (when closed): Approximately 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long, 0.8 inches tall. Weight: Approximately 8 ounces. Look: Final design is TBA. Top Screen: 3.53-inch widescreen LCD display, enabling 3D view without the need for special glasses; with 800x240 pixel resolution (400 pixels are allocated for each eye to enable 3D viewing). Touch Screen: 3.02-inch LCD with 320x240 pixel resolution with a touch screen. Cameras: One inner camera and two outer cameras with 640x480 (0.3 Mega) pixel resolution. Pre-Installed Software: TBA Nintendo 3DS Game Card: 2 GB Max. at launch. Wireless Communication: Can communicate in the 2.4 GHz band. Multiple Nintendo 3DS systems can connect via a local wireless connection to let users communicate or enjoy competitive game play. Systems also can connect to LAN access points to access the Internet and allow people to enjoy games with others. Will support IEEE 802.11 with enhanced security (WPA/WPA2). Nintendo 3DS hardware is designed so that even when not in use, it can automatically exchange data with other Nintendo 3DS systems or receive data via the Internet while in sleep mode. Game Controls: Touch screen, embedded microphone, A/B/X/Y face buttons, + Control Pad, L/R buttons, Start and Select buttons, "Slide Pad" that allows 360-degree analog input, one inner camera, two outer cameras, motion sensor and a gyro sensor.
Other Input Controls: 3D Depth Slider to adjust level of 3D effect (can be scaled back or turned off completely depending on the preference of the user), Home button to call system function, Wireless switch to turn off wireless communications (even during game play), Power button. The telescoping stylus is approximately 4 inches when fully extended.
Input/Output: A port that accepts both Nintendo 3DS game cards and game cards for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems, an SD memory card slot, an AC adapter connector, a charging cradle terminal and a stereo headphone output jack.
Sound: Stereo speakers positioned to the left and right of the top screen.
So, even the lower screen is slightly higher in resolution than the DS / Lite. Thoughts?
Also, note that the camera resolution is still quite low, at the same 0.3 megapixels. But in 3D now, so let's call them megavoxels.
I think that's what we are all wondering and when it comes out. This is the Nintendo website warioswoods was talking about. http://e3.nintendo.com/3ds/

Another observation: the specs list the game cart storage as 2GB, which is indeed larger, but no mention is made of the size of internal storage. Actually, no mention has been made of what sort of online store or DSiWare-like offerings it may have.

So no rumble, I guess.....for now. Still it makes up for this in spades with all the rest of it's hardware and software awesomeness. I wonder how the motion sensors would work when lying down to play.
Edit: as for the stylist it's probably made to lock in place.
Wikipedia also lists "Movie Record Mode" although I've seen no mention of that elsewhere. It would make sense since even the Apple Nano can record video.
Man, I have a feeling DS games are going to look tiny on that bottom screen now that they're upping the resolution. I hope it will be possible to rescale them to fill the screen.

Since the source is Wikipedia, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I am rather curious about that.
Another observation I have is that we'll likely see sharp drop-off in games where you hold the DS like a book. These parallax barrier screens can't show 3D when you hold it sideways, so no one will choose that style for a game, knowing all 3D functionality is thrown out if you do so.

Rescaling DS screens for 3DS is going to be hard. A 25% increase doesn't really scale nicely. I think they'll just have a black border around DS games, just like the DS had black borders around GBA games.
I wonder what the difference between the new Home button and the DSi's Power button (push once to restart, hold to turn off) will be. Maybe something like the PSP's PS button (system menu while the game is suspended)?
What kind of gimmicky mini-games will developers come up with for the new sensors do you think? It seemed like every early game for the DS had to have some pointless microphone-blowing in it.
