Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park - Inessential Bells & Whistles

@JohnnyMind hey sorry for the late reaction I thought I had already responded.

I think I could world by precious comment better.
I mean that accessibility (all kinds of) should be free to be honest in a game. In this case the assist mode, that NintendoLife wrote an article came to fruition in this update. But you need to pay for those accessibility options. THAT is scummy in my opinion, see also the second comment in this comment section.

The fact that they, the accessibility options were already in the basegame but locked to Yoshi & Nabbit make it worse. So a kid or a friend who is bad at gaming can’t select Peach or Luigi to play this game with.

I am not talking about the extra modes/challanges in any capacity in my comments. Nintendo can asks money for these extra things if they want to.

Also hiding better graphical upgrades behind a paywall is weird and my stance on that will not change.

This might be unpopular but I hate this game had it on switch and traded it in which I don’t often do with Nintendo games can’t believe the price they are charging for this as people have said they got away with doing this to Wii u games cos not many people played them but this was a big seller on og switch can’t believe they expect people to pay such a hefty price tag for what is a minimal upgrade

@Krlozgod

It’s a great question and sadly one I can’t answer! Didn’t have six people to test it within the limited time I had to cover the release.

If it helps, when choosing OFFLINE the option for 2, 4 and 6 players is still there, which I would assume means you can couch with that many players. But it’s only an assumption!

@KingMike

I don’t believe Maximum Carnage got a Japanese release.

@SBandy1

Really? Honestly I found Maximum Carnage only slightly superior to Seperation Anxiety, and I honestly didn’t think it was very good. I’m quite surprised by all the positive nods for it in the comments. It’s rather dull overall.

The only thing that would make this better would be having the Spider-man Arcade.

Having said that, I do have several of the games, Spider-man X-men arcade revenge is tougher than it should be(never could get past the Wolverine second stage) Sound and music was good on it.
Love Maximum Carnage on Snes, will look forward to trying the Mega Drive port.
Captain America and the avengers I enjoyed the arcade, not a fan of the SNES version, had the gameboy which I beat. They didn't mention the NES version on this review, it's not a arcade port, but it's own adventure, while it takes 2 avengers out (Vision, Iron Man) You get Cap and Hawkeye. It's a good challenging game. Ordered a physical copy and might get a digital version at some point, but I like to own a physical copy of the arcade game.

I’m waiting for the physical release, which won’t ship until November-Dec by LRG’s estimate. Ugh, the wait these days for physical is so long! Anyway, I imagine you have to give +1 or +2 to the review score if you have arcade or rental-store nostalgia for these games.

Oh how I struggled to stretch my quarters as long as possible in X-Men and Cap & The Avengers back in my teen years. Storm was the superior X-Man - her pimp club gave her great melee reach, and her tornado could wreck the entire screen (even in the 6-player cabinet) when positioned correctly. Meanwhile in Cap, I would avoid melee danger and just rain laser death from above using The Vision.

I had some fun with Silver Surfer, too, until I sold off my NES (needed $$ somehow for the SNES, right?). You really need turbo to survive long in that game.

So I’ll be waiting patiently to revisit these games at year-end. It’ll be a treat to clobber Magneto (MASTER of MAGNET!) and Whirlwind (YOU will be the one escaping!!). 😁

I was pleasantly surprised by this collection, which is much more carefully crafted than other collections from the same publisher. It includes scans of the console game manuals and boxes, original artwork, options to enable cheats in some games, and a choice of different versions for some games, such as Japanese/American, 2- or 4-player, and so on. It also includes online multiplayer for the X-Men arcade game. In my opinion, it's an excellent package worth the price, but I understand that ratings for individual games depend on personal taste.
