Ladies and gentlemen, the week! Welcome back to another Monday folks, but hey, it's not all doom and gloom. Here we have the latest UK charts for you to take a look over and brighten your day being safe in the knowledge that a Nintendo title is once again at number one!
In case the title didn't give it away already, this week sees the ink-redible rise of Splatoon 3, with the Switch's newest shooter sequel coming straight in at number one in the charts (it's also sold pretty spectacularly in Japan too, according to Nintendo!). We are elated to see the game performing so well. After our glowing 9/10 review described the game as "the pinnacle of the series, and the pinnacle of shooters on Switch", we are pleased to see the UK sales reflect the game's supremacy.
Last week's rising Switch star, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, has unfortunately fallen out of the top ten this time (down to a totally un-tubular 17th, in fact) meaning that it is business as usual with the other Nintendo titles taking to the chart. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Minecraft and Pokémon Legends: Arceus once again fill in the gaps with their innate replayability shining through as usual.
That's quite enough yapping from us, however, here's the UK top ten charts in full:

Can Splatoon 3 make 10 millions on the first week world wide? that would be sick
Well deserved, had an absolute blast playing it this weekend!
Bit strange you don't mention the game sold 9% less than Splatoon 2 which released when the UK Switch userbase was much lower?
Of course digital sales are probably much higher this time around to balance it out.
And now for it's steady decline. As always people, who want it buy it on release and then.....
Well except for Mario Kart, love that it's still in there.
@Bunkerneath
And Animal Crossing and Minecraft Switch.
I've tried everything possible to destroy this game and tarnish it's reputation and it just keeps eluding me!
@KindofaBigDeal and mostly nowadays Arceus and switch sports (UK charts at least)
Far less impressive debut than in Japan where Splatoon 3 is the fastest-selling game ever, but still an okay launch.
I’m happy for the game but not tempted to get it yet. Not sure if it’s worth holding onto my copy of Splatoon 2 or if it’s dead now?
No Fifa. I am in shock. Also I really love that Splatoon 3 is doing good. There goes all the "it should've been DLC" comments.
Not impressed.
I prefer playing something unpopular / niche but matched with my interest.
@KindofaBigDeal
2017 didnt have a pandemic wipe out peoples businesses and so that now they are having to be Just Eat drivers. There was no war going on to increase our essentials living costs.
That and this "new" game just doesnt seem worth buying over other games, I have Splatoon 2, that'll do for me,
Now watch the positive word of mouth effect through the holidays. 😎 This wasn't even a full week right?
@Anti-Matter You aren't going to find unpopular or niche titles in a top 10 of sales. Which is a list based on populairity.
@sanderev
That's why, when the popular things are not even clicked on me, I will find the unpopular things but still matched with my interest.
I know the games I like are way below than Top 10 but doesn't matter for me.
So funny, all this time I had little to no interest in playing Splatoon 3 as I sucked at Splatoon 2. Then on launch day, just seeing it pop up in the eshop and I was like 'meh to hell with it' and bought it. My mind works in stupid ways.
Splatoon 3 launched worldwide 9/9/22. This is not a full week and it still debuted No. 1. Haters goodbye!!!! 😎
@hadrian
Yes I am sure there are many reasons I was just adding a little perspective to this OTT line from the article:
"After our glowing 9/10 review described the game as "the pinnacle of the series, and the pinnacle of shooters on Switch", we are pleased to see the UK sales reflect the game's supremacy."
@Anti-Matter wait, aren’t you a huge Pokemon fan? Isn’t that like one of the most popular series of games ever? So doesn’t that blow away what you just said about yourself.
Splatoon 3 whooped the nay sayers a$$es. You suckaz got Splatted!!!! Lmao 😎 You can keep playing Splatoon on Wii U. Splatoon 3 is new and going to sell like crazy. Lmao
Forgive me but no more Mr. NICE GUY. 😂
Well done spla3oon
@Anti-Matter it’s the uk top selling charts. It’s a list of most sold physical games. You won’t find unpopular games or niche games here. Wrong article
@1UP_MARIO
There is at least one unpopular game I have interest about if you look below than Top 10.
Why does Saints Row continue to appear here?
@super-nintendo
Calm yourself.
It was always going to be a big seller.
Splatoon 3 deserves it. Even with the obnoxious connection issues, it’s a huge (due to a myriad of subtle, small changes) improvement on Splatoon 2. It’s so good, better than I was expecting, reading the reviews and impressions of it so far. Might end up being multiplayer game of the year for me.
@KindofaBigDeal I am calm but I will not be quiet... Lol. I will spam these comments with truth. All that nonsense last week. So many said it wasn't going to sell like Splatoon 2. They wanted it to flop. I won't stop until they get Splatted by Splatoon 3's massive success. 😎
Let's hope the treat splatoon 3 better and not like a cash grab with the previous games.
Give it 2-3 years of support, instead of killing it after one year, just so they can bring splatoon 4 out and get another £50 off people.
@super-nintendo
Well no one really cares and it comes accross as a bit sad and needy. But whatever floats your boat.
@Joriss happened to me with Xenoblade 3…. Only I had a coupon from Amazon that was set to expire in a month….still unsure about Splatoon 3. Leaning towards not getting it, but could easily see me getting it on impulse…
@UltimateOtaku91
I don't think the Splatoon games fall under the cash grab category.
They both launched in much more complete states than the variety of sports titles.
Splatoon fans rejoice!!(including me lmao)
I don’t think it’ll last that long tho
It's crazy to me that MK8 still gets pulled up near the top of the list with every major Nintendo release. Even Animal Crossing could never keep up because apparently everyone who bought a Switch for it grabbed Mario Kart as their second or third game.
UK and Japan had one thing in common. They just can't stop buying Minecraft physically.
