It's another new week and we have the latest UK charts for your perusal right here (you're welcome!). There are a few new additions to shake things up with Naughty Dog's The Last of Us: Part I coming in at pole position (despite, in our opinion, a pretty lofty asking price) along with F1 Manager 2022 entering the charts at number four.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection also makes its debut this week in third place. It's a respectable start for Konami's latest collection of classic titles, but what's more impressive is its performance on Nintendo's console specifically; Switch sales made up more than half of total boxed sales at 55%. PlayStation 5 followed up with 21%, then PlayStation 4 at 14%, and finally Xbox at 11%. It's important to remember, of course, that digital sales might paint a decidedly different picture, but it's certainly a strong start for the game on Switch.
Elsewhere, it's pretty much business as usual. Familiar faces like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons make up a good chunk of the charts as usual, and it's definitely testament to their long-term appeal. Time will tell if they manage to cling on with the likes of Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet looming in the distance!
Here's this week's top ten in full:
Let's finish up this week's charts with a different question. With the likes of Bayonetta 3, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Splatoon 3 launching in the coming weeks, what do you think the charts will look like at the end of the year? Let us know in the comments!

I first bought Mario Kart 8 in 2014, what a return on investment Nintendo are having on that beauty!
Doest surprise me, I tried to buy a copy of TMNT on Switch today for my brother and everywhere I went it was sold out.
@Hank_Scorpio they should just have called it Mario Kart as it has already become a life service game.
Good to see the Cowabunga Collection is doing well, it's a very fine collection and a collection actually including the Gameboy games gets a big thumbs up from me. Will be picking up my copy soon ^_^
Much better than that lazy Ninja Gaiden "Master" Collection I recently finished. They couldn't even be bothered to fix all the really bad glitches in Razor's Edge and that game even performs worse than on Wii U, what the heck?! o.O
A bit off-topic: anyone know what's up with the Bayonetta 1 physical release in Europe? Still can't find it in any store online and Nintendo UK tweeted about that version so it has to come here too, right?
I want to get Last of Us for ps5 as it looks great, but not until they drop £40-£50 off the price. Probably be free on Plus in 12-18 months.
In response to your question, I sadly don't expect Bayonetta 3 to make much of an impact in the end of year charts given it took Bayonetta 2 four years to hit a million units worldwide (probably make an appearance in its first one or two weeks and then disappear), but Splatoon 3 and Pokémon will likely have top 5 positions in the end of year charts. God of War: Ragnarok appears to be one of the most anticipated titles of the year regardless of format so should be up there, and FIFA 23 will likely be in the top 3 at the end of year too. I'm interested to see how Gotham Knights performs, although I'm mainly just hoping it turns out to be a decent game.
If it's in the UK then shouldn't it be TMHT?
Cool that a collection of retro games debuts in the top 10.
People complain The Last of Us Part 1 is £70 and it makes it to the top of the charts. And you wonder why the industry is in the state it is in.
It'll be interesting to see how far TLoU Part 1 drops next week. My guess will be around 8th where the top 3 is Splatoon 3, HFW and MK8 Deluxe.
The last of us part 1 is an odd one I mean how many times are people gonna buy it originally a ps3 game rereleased for PS4 and now ps5 it’s good but once you have completed it there is not much reason to go back glad to see cowabunga collection doing well I bought it physical on switch and I’m really enjoying it
Very disappointing to see so many people are mugs and bought that joke of a release that is The Last of Us: Remastered: Remake: Part One: Less Content edition at more than full price. Mugs.
Good to see the Cowabunga Collection do so well, makes sense it sold most on Nintendo platforms condidering most of the titles included were from past Nintendo platforms.
Splatoon 3 will easily be number 1 next week.
Apparently TLoU Part I didn't sell amazingly despite topping the chart.
@KindofaBigDeal
Let ppl buy what they want.
I personally am not buying it since it's a story driven game and I already played it (if I do buy again it'll be on Steam down the line for $29.99). I hated the 2nd one but did like the first.
But still. If ppl think it's worth it to them, let them enjoy it. As I said, a story driven game with no replayability getting 3 HD releases in 9 years, with the final release cutting content for $70... I'm not interested, even with the gyro aiming. But what others do with their money is their perogative.
@Fizza Yeah, and Mikey's "weapon" is a hastily-photoshopped-in grappling hook
@JaxonH
This one is purely about the priniciple as it sets a terrible precedent. Sony defended the increased price of games to 70 quid with the reasoning of the increased development costs for creating ambitious games demanded it. Where is the ambition here exactly? It is just a shinier version of a game already released twice in the past ten years with less content to boot and now costing more than it ever has before.
The people who bought it are telling Sony that this is perfectly fine and they are ready to swallow whatever nonsense Sony is willing to offer up next.
People are free to buy the game if they want and I am free to call them mugs for doing so, especially those who have already bought the game on PS3/4.
@KindofaBigDeal
Yes, but it's their money and their right to choose to do whatever they want with it. At the end of the day we're gamers, not activists. If you feel it sends a bad message, vote with your wallet. If they feel it's worth it despite the message it sends, they are free to cast their vote how they wish, irrespective of whether or not you approve.
Where you cross the line is when you start insulting ppl over what they buy with their money. You don't have to approve, or like it. But if you think that means that gives you the right to insult others for what they do with their money, you're mistaken. Ppl can burn their money in a bonfire if they want. And neither you nor I have any right to say anything to them about it, regardless of whether we personally think it's foolish.
@JaxonH
I am happy to cross that line you have set. They are mugs, every single one.
Very good. This hopefully opens up for more physical collections since this is making a lot of money
Nice to see Saints Row still up there! Maybe we'll get DLC if people keep supporting it. It's really a fun game. Not sure why all the review bombing?
The reason people are buying The Last of Us Part One is because there's naff all else justifying their crazy PS5 investment. See also Demon's Souls.
@gcunit wish that was true for me, got loads of games in trying to find the time to get through on my ps5. And that was before ps plus extra dropped and gave me tonnes more to play. I can wait for a deep sale before I buy it.
My series x however, yeah that's gathering dust!
Anyone who missed out on the collectors edition of Bayonetta 3! Head to very they have some still for £74.99
@Fizza That name issue had been fix a long time ago since the GameCube era. It's TMNT on all regions now.
LOL @ Nintendo fans complaining about a full priced remake. The Switch's entire generation is built on remakes and remasters.
@Fizza UK version with its changed name has been used in all dubbed adaptions all over Europe, not just in UK itself - unfortunately, Digital Eclipse and Konami have decided to neither include any PAL version in the bundle nor do they even mention the European release dates...
@JaxonH Haha maybe that's different in different countries but here in Switzerland it is actually forbidden by law to burn your money in a bonfire and I would suspect that's the case elsewhere too 😁 (Besides that, you are right, of course 😉)
