Katana Zero has been one of the standout indie releases of 2019. Now, a little over a month after its release on the Switch and PC, the game's developer Askiisoft has revealed a significant update is arriving at the end of May.
This will include a brand new hard mode, speedrun mode and a fixed optional stealth level. Apart from this, you'll also be able to pet a cat. Here's the official announcement along with some extra details:
The Switch eShop release in Australia and New Zealand also gets a mention. As we found out a few days ago, the ban on the game has been overturned by the Classification Board in this region, after being refused last month.

Neat. Really fun game so I'm totally down with going back to it and playing through it again on hard mode sometime.
This game was begging for an incentive to keep playing it, even if it's just getting better times in the speedrun mode.
Can't wait to go back to New Mecca!
Easily my favorite game of the year so far. I just beat the secret final boss last night, and let me tell you - this game does not need a hard mode! However, for those who are more skilled than I am, I'm sure that this is a welcome addition.
Also, being able to pet the cat has easily made this a 10/10 game for me now.
Ah, I see they're competing with Enter the Gungeon's new pet the dog feature.
Do you get to pet the cat with your sword?
