Nitrome's delightful 2D action-puzzle platformer Bomb Chicken, previously released on the Switch eShop in July last year, will be receiving the physical treatment later this month.
Limited Run Games has revealed pre-orders will open on 29th March. Fortunately for your wallet, there's no collector's edition this time around. Below is the full Twitter announcement:
If you've not had the chance to play this game yet, we gave it eight out of ten stars and said it was an absolute blast to play with classic and refined gameplay, intelligent level design and a great sense of flow.

Drop the BOMB !
I had a BLAST with this game when it first came out! However, it’s still a pass on physical for me.
I wonder if it will have an instruction manual or anything besides the cartridge inside? Pretty cool that such a good game is getting a physical release.
Nitrome games are my childhood! As a child the only system I could play games on was a PC, this was before the DS era. Nitrome was the best free to play gaming website at that time. Besides that I played some emulated Nintendo games like Super Mario World........
I thought Nitrome was pretty much dead besides mobile games! Never thought I'd see the day that Nitrome releases a physical game for Nintendo Switch! I will buy this even if it's just for nostalgia
@ALinkToMyProfile
That's a lot of interesting information. What did you have for breakfast yesterday?
@Aneira Sorry yesterday is too long ago to remember! I'm just excited to see news about Nitrome. You almost never see appreciation for this awesome studio. I guess I'm hoping to meet fellow fans who know Nitrome since the flash days.
Definitely excited for this, I’ve heard great things about it, and it looks fun.
@60frames-please If they follow what they’ve done for the four Switch releases I’ve received from them so far, it should have nice interior/reversible artwork and an instruction booklet.
That's great. Never thought it would get a physical release; I was very close to picking it up digitally as looks like lot of fun.
This was a great game!
Great gameplay, and quite a challenge to 100% it.
If you’re on the fence of getting this game I totally recommend it.
Bomb Chicken is a great game - no doubt. I had a great time with it but I will not double dip.
For everyone who hasn't played the game until now and likes retail releases this is a good offer - while me, personally, think the Limited Run games are a little overpriced.
Count me in, I'll order that.
Super convenient because the 29th is my pay day, and I'll be able to get Bloodstained Curse of the Moon, The Messenger, and Bomb Chicken all on the same day.
@ALinkToMyProfile I still check their website from time to time hoping for something new! Nothing new since 2014, but so many great memories, and the games are still fun to replay. Their mobile games are neat as well, but my phone's severely under-powered
Chicken bomb's been announced since two years ago http://www.nitrome.com/blog/articles/1425/, and I really hope we get more (non-mobile) games like it!
@CurryPowderKeg79 Maybe he wanted a copy of Bloodstained lol.
Just need at CE w/Phushie hold a bomb then I am in. Otherwise ehhe just be buying the standard case. ugh...
@60frames-please All LRG physical releases come with either a game manual or an art book. I guarantee this game will have either one of them.
"Nitrome"
Now there's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.
Cool game but am not interested in physical.
@Anti-Matter Someone has been playing DDR games 😀
@GrailUK Nah, I'm actually holding out for The Messenger from Special Reserve Games.
@CurryPowderKeg79 In all honesty, I'm not sure how we missed this one. I see the classic and mega editions are both sold out now, but next time news pops up about this game, I'll try to at least mention something about the pre-order availability of the standard edition.
I am just not a fan of these. I understand that they are meant as collectibles for hobbyists but as much money as I am willing to burn on gaming, I don't want to rebuy the same game on the same system. Given the choice of digital or physical at launch I will pick physical 9.5 times out of 10, but I am not gonna rebuy a digital only game, months later.
I never finished the game but it was a good experience from what I played however I don't believe I would double dip on this experience.
@wazlon "Cool game but am not interested in physical."
And your point.
@Heavyarms55 "I am just not a fan of these. I understand that they are meant as collectibles for hobbyists "
That is why it's limited or called Collectors for a reason if you want it then you buy it. As you said there is the standard release they don't always have CE but standard release as well. And those who didn't buy Digital release have a choice with Physical release. I already learned from eShop to wait unless it's a Indie that isn't able to make it physical.
this game is DA BOMB
I'm almost finished (final stages are reeeeally tuff) but I'm consider buying it just out of respect for Nitrome
@SwitchForce My point is I think Bomb Chicken is a cool game but I'm not interested in buying a physical copy. It was a comment, which is what the comment section is for.
