Madrid-based development studio Ikigai Gameworks has unveiled information surrounding its very first title Night & Day, a narrative-driven runner game coming to Switch early next year.
The game mixes environments in which day and night collide, containing your usual gameplay elements such as shortcuts, bosses, and mini-bosses, packed into a game system that seems simple at first glance. While the game's mechanics and controls are easy enough to pick up on their own, the game's difficulty is said to be tremendously high, with a devilish level of brutality aiming to please even the elite of runner game players.
Night & Day will test your reflexes with lane changes, jumps, and dashes, with a level of challenge supposedly reminiscent of titles like Celeste, Super Meat Boy and Runner3. You can check out a list of the game's features below.
FEATURES:
Simultaneous control of the two main characters, both in single-player and two-player modes.
Tribute to classic arcade games of skill and precision.
Simple control scheme.
Two different local co-op modes.
Camera angles used provide a cinematic experience.
Test your reflexes by fighting against awesome bosses and minibosses.
Narrative driven, challenging adventure.
Discover the beautiful and diverse environments of the world of Celuria.
The game is set to launch in Spring 2019. Will you be keeping an eye on this one?

Eh, not really feeling it. I rather see a Tale of Brothers ported to the Switch.
Reminds me of a NES game with two penguins.
@Saego "two brothers, in a van, and then a mexican armada came". I'd play that. But this... there is no side step animation: the characters just woosh aside. And how are this guy and girl keeping exact pace? Nah. Concept: good, execution: goodn't.
That looks exhausting to play. I'm tired just watching it.
Maybe they will tidy up the animations by next year? Looks like an interesting game..... Looks exhausting trying to keep tabs on two people.... So maybe.
Meh, controlling 2 characters/ships/dimensions/etc at once got annoying fast for me so I'll pass.
I remember the last game I played that tried the dual character mechanic. It was a platformer called Embers of Mirrim. I hated it. So yeah, I'm gonna be sceptical about trying dual character mechanics, unless this one actually works. :/
Dimension drive (the shooter) becomes a dual platformer!

No thanks, this looks as terrible as Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons was.
I... in theory I would like to, well, like this.
But I am
just
so
exhausted
with platformers. It feels like they're all over the place?
Where are the RPGs?
They were all over the place in the 3DS era and the Switch is still just as much of an handheld and we're finally just starting to see a more proper pace of release for decent RPG starting with Regalia, Battlechasers this month and Banner Saga next month.
But it still took an entire year and a half to get there where it felt like all we had were I am Setsuna and Xenosaga 2, with Lost Sphear being apparently a disappointment even to the people who actually liked I am Setsuna.
At this rate, even a metroidvania would feel refreshing than a pure action platformer divided in linear levels(which was my only big disappointment with the last Shantae that it was again another platformer game whose world was divided by a level selection screen....).
I dunno. Maybe I've just had too much but... gods. X_X
Madness.
