Like Pokémon? Like eating burgers, nuggets and salty fries? Then have we got some news for you! We've been tipped off that McDonald's outlets in the United Kingdom will soon be getting Pocket Monster-themed Happy Meals complete with collectable plastic toys.
The range launches on January 3rd 2018 and will run until February 6th. 16 different figures will be made available during this time, covering all of the popular Pokémon generations. Each one will also come with an official trading card.
Point of sale material will appear in McDonald's restaurants from December 19th onwards. Excited?

16 toys? Damn, that's a lot to collect in just one month.
Gotta collect them all. Gotta eat it all
Well, I'm definitely going to McDonalds now:P
Definitely be tempted... but it will ultimately depend on how good the figures are and whether or not I'm interested in the trading cards.
Do they mean Pokémon's from the moste popular generations or the moste popular Pokémon's of each generation? I don't live in UK myself, but would be neat if they included Munchlax.
Even with this incentive, i still will not eat at McDonalds, and luckily there isn't one on th island i live on
At least you can buy happy meal toys for a pound still. So even if you don't like Mcdonalds food you won't miss out.
Based on it being 16 toys across all/most generations... I assume that means we're getting the 2016 toy/card release (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/2016_McDonald%27s_promotional_Pok%C3%A9mon_toys)... Or could end up being a mashup of multiple years' toys/cards, given we've not had Pokemon in Happy Meals for years...
My son will be very happy with this and so I will have to buy all 16 toys for... him... just like I bought all the Mario toys for myself, I mean him, last time round.
Over the last 2-3 years of Super Mario Happy Meals, I regularly went into McDonald's and asked for the toy only (99p), as I didn't want the actual food. The looks on the staff's faces were priceless, seeing a grown-ass man queue up only to ask for a toy.
I then became a recognisable face in the branch (not sure if that's a good thing), and they would "reserve" a toy for me and just throw it my way upon seeing me enter. Unfortunately, I'm no longer near that branch, but nevertheless here we go again
And not a single chip was eaten...
@Kienda I hear ya 😉
Targeting junk food advertisements to kids, no wonder we are the most obese country in Europe.
Can it get any better, macdonalds and a pokemon toy!!!
ambassador you are spoiling us!!!
@Hughesy No we are not!!!
@Bunkerneath what is your reason for not eating at McDonald's?
@Mogster Reason.
Luckily for me there’s 4 of us!
Gotta Eat em all.
Or salty "chips" in the UK.
I may buy a toy or teo, but I won't buy any food; McDonald's food is terribly overpriced.
Pft, McDonald's. You can't get me to-
sees Pokemon toys
...Darn it.
I'm in Croatia and we had this promotion last month, if it's the same collection, and not a newer one. The available toys we had are linked below. Last year we had a Gen 1 promotion with different toys and we also have a Super Mario promotion running this month.

@dew12333 In Europe, yes we are. Europe's obesity league (taken from https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/loseweight/Pages/statistics-and-causes-of-the-obesity-epidemic-in-the-UK.aspx):
UK: 24.9%
Ireland: 24.5%
Spain: 24.1%
Portugal: 21.6%
Germany: 21.3%
Belgium: 19.1%
Austria: 18.3%
Italy: 17.2%
Sweden: 16.6%
France: 15.6%
@dew12333 Uh we are, fact, and 6th in the world...

I remember when McDonald’s was giving Spongebob toys with their Happy Meals. I was a huge fan back then. I had 12 toys to collect! I would drive around to every McDonald’s until I got all 12. The looks I got from the employees when I asked for the toys and nothing to eat! 😂I used to LOVE McDonald’s! Like, eat their five days a week love! It wasn’t the fact that the food felt heavy in my stomach for hours after eating it that made me stop eating it. It was the second time I got food poisoning. Yes, you read right! The second time! That’s how much I loved their food. Cashiers who worked at the McDonald’s at my job knew my order. It’s been five years since I’ve had my last meal from McDonald’s. Don’t miss it at all. BUT, I do occasionally think about how good the food was when it was fresh and the Coke was strong. But, I never get tempted to eat there.
@NinjaAceTrainer @Hughesy
Nah were second to ironically to Hungary.
@dew12333 Ah, that is true, and ironically so as you pointed out. Hughesy's point still stands, however, as even though we aren't the most obese country in Europe, we do rank pretty high. Good research skills by the way.
@NinjaAceTrainer
We rank very high and clearly have a problem with obesity But sorry I don't agree with this blame macdonalds for the fat nation thing. They have equal amounts of marketing and restaurants in the countries that are at the bottom of that list too. People are to blame...
@dew12333 I agree with that, but Hughesy's point was that the Pokemon, which is a kids franchise, Happy Meals are in the UK. Anyway, I've had enough of this conversation, so not to be rude, but I'd rather like it to end.
The event finishes tomorrow and I am just missing Squirtle.
