It's that mid-week point of the Media Create chart results out of Japan, and a week with no new releases in the top 20 sees familiar favourites still leading the charge.
Kirby: Planet Robobot has followed up its number one debut with a second week at number one, nearly hitting a quarter of a million overall sales (it's very like surpassed that number with eShop sales added). A number of the usual contenders are then found, such as Yo-kai Sangokushi in second spot and a few other Nintendo system exclusives in the top 10; Splatoon is the highest-placed Wii U title. The top 20 is below with lifetime sales in brackets.
- [3DS] Kirby: Planet Robobot (Nintendo, 04/29/16) – 79,807 (224,653)

- [3DS] Mario Kart 7 (Nintendo, 12/01/11) – 3,584 (2,630,681)
Hardware sales have generally trended down this week, with the smaller New and old 3DS models being exceptions. The New 3DS LL (XL) is still chasing the PS4, while Wii U dipped back into four figures once again; the results are below with last week's sales in brackets.

A quiet week all told, with Kirby's latest doing well on the 3DS.

Last week was Golden Week in Japan which is a popular week for game sales as it's one of their 3 major holidays, hence the spike.

This week they're slipping a little back to normality and next week they'll be down even further.
Splatoon has done so well and continues to do so. As does Super Mario Maker but look at Pokken Tournament. Or worse yet, Star Fox Zero. Yikes! That has to be one of if not the worst selling Nintendo titles they've put out in years. Surely 3,500 wouldn't get a game placed at number 20 in the UK charts.
Overall sales numbers seem very low. What would be on average the weekly sales of the number 1 game in the UK?
Kirby 1
Shame the rest of the world doesn't still understand the awesomeness of the 3DS.
Did Japan get the Kirby Robobot amiibo bundle? I haven't pre-ordered the game in the US yet b/c I'm still holding out hope. Though admittedly that hope is waning.
I never played a Kirby game. I may try this one when it hits the States.
Has it outsold Triple Deluxe?
Nintendo has mishandled the Star Fox franchise since the release of Star Fox 64. Star Fox Assault was not well received on GameCube and since then it seems like Nintendo is content to just repackage Star Fox 64 in different ways. They gave it a re-master on 3DS and then gave it a re-imagine on Wii U. The poor sales should tell Nintendo that fans are not really keen on buying variations of the same game over and over.
As for Kirby, I am happy that it is selling well. Kirby is awesome, even if the games do tend to be rather easy.
Is the 2DS sold in Japan?
@LegendOfPokemon Absolutely
Man, I am so hyped for Planet Robobot! And even though Wii U sales are down, I'm still happy that they are above the usual 5,000 - 4,000 per week.

Kind of surprised with the low sales number for star fox. I knew that it was more popular in the west but under 30000 sold. That's really low even for a dying system. They should re release zero for the nx with upgraded visuals and maybe a regular control scheme.
Star Ocean deserves a better fate than this.
I know handhelds are popular in Japan, but it's sad to see the Vita (as much as I love it) outsell the WiiU...
So glad Kirby is getting love. One of my favourite gaming series. I want a new Mass Attack game!
Kirby games appear to stay solid and so are their sales in Japan, which is definitely good, Star Fox Zero really seems to miss something that clicks with the Japanese audience (I wonder how it's doing in the West), while Mario & Sonic and especially Mario Kart 7 came back from the dead (did the latter receive a price cut recently? If so why isn't it listed as Happy Price?). Splatoon and Super Mario Maker continue to sell with an order of magnitude comparable to that of the Wii U so I wonder if bundles are involved or if they are just considered must-have games in Japan.
@rockodoodle The "outlier" is not the Wii U, it's the Vita. It's incredibly successful in Japan, as much as the 3DS from these numbers, and everytime I see those results with the Vita being one of the most important consoles in Japan I am surprised...
Is it weird that I enjoy Kirby more than any other Nintendo franchise? I don't really care for the spin offs but when it comes to a traditional Kirby announced I get excited, really looking forward to this.
