Below is a link to information about a 3D Mario Kart Wii game. Could this mean that the Wii 2 which Nintendo has announced is actually a 3D gaming console? After all Nintendo has acknowledged that there was at one time or another a 3D Luigi's Mansion for the Game Cube which was later forgotten but could be dusted off for the Nintendo 3DS.
The 3d Mario kart was just used to convince people that a 3d gaming system would be awsome, which resulted in the 3ds. I don't think this has anything to do with the next generation system though.

I believe he is saying that if they wouldn't make an HD Wii because there still weren't enough HD TVs out there, they're certainly not going to make a 3D home console.

Aah I wish there was a 3D console. I'm sure over the next few years as more and more games move to 3D, the Wii will also catch up, but for now I also have to agree that no, there will probably not be a 3D games console coming out.
Don't rule it out. I play my PS3 on a SDTV, and while I know I'm probably not getting the best possible graphics or sound, I'm still fine with it, so it's possible to make a 3D console that can play on SD/HD TV's.

In the light of that Jenny I can't for common senses sake understand why Sony chose to not make the NGP 3D and yet Apple Inc is already working on a 3D iPod Touch and 3D iPad. What's with the designers and artisans at Sony PlayStation? Are they losing their cool? Imagine Ratchet and Clank, Hot Shots Golf or Sly Cooper in 3D. Oh the joy that would. Racing in Mod Nation Racers or being nutty in LittleBigPlanet 3D.

I think the people here mean a 3D home console, not a portable like the 3DS. While it's certainly awesome for a portable, some people want something more meaty at home that's on a not-so-tiny screen.
Something saying MarioKart Wii 3D is not good proof. Could be a typo, since we do have MarioKart 3DS coming

Nintendo are in complete control when it comes to the 3DS; they're not reliant on the user owning hardware to enable the 3D experience because it is built into the device.
Because of this Nintendo will not dare to venture into home console 3D until they have complete control over the experience or until 3DTVs become standard in households. I also think that a 3D home console as Nintendo's next venture would be too predictable and not in their style.
I know this sounds crazy but I think we should all seriously consider the possibility that Nintendo's next venture might well be virtual reality. This would be another experience Nintendo could have complete control over; they would manufacture the console, headsets and they already have a fantastic controller with the Wii remote and nunchuck.

Although I'd love to see this happen... I cant see it - it just doesn't seem to fit in with Nintendo as we know it
Firstly, the Wii is all about getting a group of friends or family in the same room playing games (from what I understand, the name Wii is inspired by 'we' as in everyone can play) Virtual Reality would be a step back towards a single player alone in a room.
And besides... how could you make a Mario game inside a virtual reality world?
