How could there be any thoughts? It's not even released yet. I'll be getting it though. I'll post my first impressions as soon as it's out.

I don't know why it is so outrageous to think that an American would not know the exact time difference with Europe and the exact time the EU store updates. It's just a placeholder thread. We're eager to hear about the game, so let us know as soon as you get your lucky hands on it.

It's not like I really need to know impressions, though. I'm buying it the second I wake up on Monday. :3

The music I've heard so far is stellar!
I just hope it's fairly lengthy for being 10 dollars.

Just for you.

Don't know where the whole outrageous is coming from, but I've played the first 10 levels. It's a platformer, but not really. You don't have to run, you just have to push the right button at the right time. You hold the Wii Remote like a NES controller. 2 is for Jump, down is for Slide, 1 is for kick (you can also do a jump kick). The goal is to get through the levels, collecting as much gold as you can. When you get a + sign, there is where the fun begins, the music starts to get better and some visual effects will show. If you do everything right in a level, you can enjoy an awesome music that really get's you going. The game is hard, very hard. If you want to succeed, you have to jump very quickly after jump. It's a bit hard to explain, but you just have to try it. Basically it's like 2222 so you can't relax and have to stay focused.

Now the bad parts. If you collect all the gold, you get a retro (how retro can you get) bonus level that reminded me of Pitfall. This is even harder (haven't completed one yet), but it's also a bit boring because there is no music. It breaks up the flow after you complete a level and I didn't like that. What is also annoying is when you hit someting, the level is complete reset. You start at the beginning with no gold and the music is reset as well. I understand that they don't want to let you start the level halfway and also music wise it would be a bad decision. But the levels get longer and longer and harder and harder and you bound to make a mistake. It's extremely frustrating when you have to collect 90 gold bars, and after a long level you hit something near the end. You lose everything and go back to the very beginning. I would have loved some sort of midpoint checkpoint save like thingy.

My first impresssions. I'm downloading the fifth case of PWAA at the moment. Really curious what they have done with it. Will post more impressions later today.

Out of curiosity Sneaky, have you played the other Bit.Trip games? If so, where would you rank this among them?

But they're ALL so AWESOME.....

(mines will hopefully be Runner>Core>Beat=Void)

Check out my classy comics.

I think this game is great. Definitely a challenge, but still fun. I really like the bonus levels, and I hope there is a way to unlock them so i can play them when i want. But I do agree with Sneaker in that there should be some sort or checkpoint in the longer levels. you only have to make one mistake and then back to the start. I had to stop playing 1-10 (or 1-11?) because it was too long and frustrating. Also, my eyes started to hurt after playing it for too long. But when you get to Extra, the awesomeness makes it all better.

Overall, I am really enjoying it. I think it is better than Beat and Core (yet to play Void).

Any more views on this game, i am still not sure about downloading as it maybe too hard for me (it sounds). I am waiting for the NL review as well.

Haven't played the other Bit. Trip games. I didn't like the demo so much of the first game.

Well, that could still be useful. Did you not like the demo because it was too hard? Or just not your kind of game?

I didn't like the controls. Twisting it felt really akward and imprecise. The screen gets really busy too. And then I mean the background. At one point a huge big a(s)stroid came into the screen. And I couldn't spot the little pixels that I was supposed to block.

About Runner, I'm currently in the second world (1-11 was extremely hard). The boss was fun though. The background in world 2 is really busy as well. Difficult to spot the red astroids coming at me.

I watched some more game play videos of this game and decided to go out get a 2000 Wii Point card.
Definite buy on day 1.

I'm in the final world now. World 2 wasn't as difficult as world 1 (still challenging though) and the boss was easier too. I'm wondering why I'm being attacked? First by that UFO's, now by that strange farmer fellow from the trailer. What have I done to them? BTW, in world 3, you learn the block move. Press right and a bat appears in front of the character. With it, you can bounce yellow blocks back as in the first Bit. game.

Haha nice page pix

I just got Runner this morning, it's amazing. I can't say yet whether or not it's better than Beat (and I haven't played the other two) but it's amazing. There's a unique retro bonus level after each regular level so it's like twice the content I was expecting

It's definitely less frustrating than Beat because the automatic respawn mechanic is so smooth and quick, you're literally playing again within like a second of dying. This is probably all old news to people who've been watching trailers and reading the interviews or whatever but I avoided most of the preview stuff :x

On the other hand it's not quite as satisfying as Beat because it feels just like a normal game (albeit hard), whereas Beat felt like one big f*** you from start to finish. When I nailed the harder parts of Growth and Descent I felt like a machine, I dunno if I'll get that in the later stages of this since it's just a platformer, and I've beaten tough platformers before, you know?

It's still satisfying to nail the sequences in Runner though coz the gameplay is so smooth, there's nothing frustrating about the controls at all. They've just got it tuned perfectly, stuff like you don't have to release slide if you want to jump, and if you want to do a jump-kick you can press 2 then 1, or 1 then 2, or 1 and 2 simultaneously... It doesn't sound like a big deal but a game can easily be made so frustrating by ignoring these little touches
