Severely disappointed.. I pre-ordered my game from Toys R Us (probably ~20th of October) because they had a pre-order bonus where you'd get a free amiibo with the game. Up until today, the tracking information said that I wouldn't get it 'til the day after Thanksgiving (Friday), which really bummed me out cuz I wanted to play it with my little cousin tomorrow. Needless to say I was excited when it came today! So, here before I pack up all my Wii U stuff for tomorrow, I figured I'd open it, get all the updates out of the way, and play it a little, but to my dismay it won't read. Eventually comes up with an error message (Error Code: 150-1031) that has no OK button, so there is no way to make it go away. When I then remove the disc the message stays. When I then re-insert the disc, again not reading, the message goes away and my console subsequently buzzfreezes. Have reset it and retried multiple times.
When I restarted the console with the disc still in it, the ? box icon is still there and when pressed it brings up Error Code: 150-2031 with an actual OK button.
Idk what happens if you try and insert a disc from a foreign region, but that and just a plain faulty disc are my only two theories. The box has the American ratings and art and all. The disc looks right. The box itself is normal. And my Wii U has had no problems with discs to this point. Every other game I've put in to test here reads fine.
I guess I'm reaching out for help, advice, and to see if any of you had problems at all of your own. I guess I might keep trying for the moment, but I am very let down...
Edit: Here's the video I made to document the problem, if you were wondering: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6vf53pG3TSY
I did get a new game that works great, but I still have the bad copy. Toys R Us did say I should be able to return it no problem.
Beyond making sure the disc isn't upside down or something simple like that this link has basic troubleshooting but most roads lead to replacing the disc.
My thought is that since I told my cuz we were gonnaplay it might go get another copy tonight yet or in the morning, and then if I end up with two copies ah well.
That error has been happening a lot recently. It's still not clear what is causing it be it through a Patch or the WiiU itself, but if I were you I'd find a friend who also has a WiiU to try the game.
If it works then you know it's not your game, but your system itself and you will then have to send it to Nintendo to get repaired.
As I stated below the link, I got a new copy from Toys R Us that works just fine, but they wouldn't let me return or exchange the bad one because their return database was shut down for Black Friday. However, the attendant said I should be able to return it at a later date no problem.
My two theories on the bad copy:
It's a faulty copy, plain and simple
OR
It's a non-American disc that made it into an American package, and the effects (as seen in the video) are that of region-lock.
