Topic: Silly me having trouble signing up for Nintendo Club

Hi folks,

I bought a Wii U premium about a month a go for me and my son. I sort of rushed through the set up, normally I save all my passwords and logins in an app but I can find no trace of anything to do with nintendo.

I have used the wii u shop and paid for and downloaded a couple of games. But then I remembered you get points for being in the niintendo club.

Annoyingly, I now can't remember at all what I've signed up for and what I haven't. I'd like to work out where I'm at, note down the passwords and get it all sorted.

I found a red folded card with a scratch off PIN. I tried this at club.nintendo but it said it was invalid. I also tried the serial number on the console itself, this also came up as invalid. Googling this it said the serial number should be 2 letters and 9 numbers, mine is 3 letters and 9 numbers???

I did buy the console new from a decent internet shop.

Any idea why these 2 numbers don't work?

Any way of telling if I have or have not signed up to wii shop, club nintendo, or for nintendo ID? I don't even know if these things are all the same or completely different.

Sorry to be so vague, but can anyone help me work out where I'm at here, and what I need to do to get the club membership up and running?

Did you have a Wii? I had a similar problem - it turns out I was signed into club nintendo on the wii shop on my old wii system. Once I blew off the dust, set it up, and went into the wii shop to delink the accounts, it started work for the Wii U. Note - I thought I could do that in 'wii mode' on Wii U but I couldn't, I had to go to the old system - and I did a system reset wiping all its old settings just in case. Also if you change your password it take 24 hours to work - so try again tomorrow.

Oh also - I forgot a step - you have to go into 'my settings/other' on the Wii U eshop to link the accounts manually - it doesn't do it automatically.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused still...

I did have a Wii, and just like me, I have completely forgotten whether I was in Club Nintendo or not.

But that wouldn't affect the 'invalid' error on entering the PIN. Also I tried 2 likely emails in 'forgotten your username' in Club Nintendo and neither was recognised.

So when you say you had a similar problem, which bit did you mean? Were you trying to join Nintendo Club from the wii u itself? I didn't even realise you could do that.

Or are you talking about the wii shop. Sorry like I say, I'm a bit confused how these accounts relate and overlap

Make sure you're on the right Club Nintendo site - the one for the UK is here : http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/club_nintendo/club_not_lo...

The North America one is the one at club.nintendo.com and they're not the same thing.

Oh wow. that's exactly what it was!

So on the very same card that gives me a PIN it tells me to go to the NA site. No mention of a UK site.

So I wasn't being that silly after all.

Anyway, that card turned out to be for Lego Undercover, so I've started a club membership and entered my other retail games.

Now for the next confusion... I followed the instructions the link the Nintendo ID i had on the wii u to the Nintendo Club. Presumably this won't as I now have an option to 'unlink'

But the wii u and downloads are not showing up on my account.

Does it take a while to update? It's been a few hours.

Also what benefits do I get from it being a wii u premium. I vaguely remeber I get bonus points or discounts or something.
