Wait, the NA division actually makes their own games? I thought they just localized games made from the japan division, lol.

That's what I thought until yesterday when they said how members of Nintendo Treehouse will be at E3 presenting the brand new games that they've been working on.

Of course, things change over time....

Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.

They loclaized games that we don't know about which still means brand new game they've worked on. Treehouse is only localization and only hires for that purpose.

The only westerned development branches nintendo has are Retro, NST, and NERD if you consider them one.

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Treehouse is mostly for localization. Keep in mind that Nintendo of America does have some development teams, but they go by a different name. The treehouse will probably show off games made by Japan and America (and maybe Europe)

I thought it was great but can sb explain why NA has fewer free games to choose from than europe? What's the reasoning behind that? (I'm from europe so I dont care but still.. kinda weird:P)

I's guess its because the Wii U is doing the worst in europe and the system is being phased out of shelf and getting deep discounts.

Wrong guess, try again.

Because Nintendo of America likes to screw their customers?

1. The NoA selection of free games could be defined as "quality games with mass appeal", which would give a much better first impression for new Wii U users.
2. The NoE deal only include download codes. There would be no shelf space to clear.
3. Some European countries will probably not get any deal about free games
4. NoE most probably has different different licensing deals regarding distribution with SEGA and CAPCOM than NoA, although that might not matter here.
5. Reggie, says "amazing games". With the NoE list of games, all games aren't no longer amazing.
6. NoE don't know how to handle actors and voice overs, and the Europeans needs to be compensated for that?

To expand the number of satisfied Wii U users, I think NoA has a much better general marketing approach than NoE in this case.

While the Mario Kart 8 Direct was awesome with a lot of info, I hope they return to their normal Direct format for E3. This one was way too silly

(They probably will return to their normal Direct format for E3, but I hope we don't get to many in this format. I want more in the format of the Super Smash Bros Direct, I felt that was the best lol)

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Crikey, the free game giveaway is appealing.

Now, to download MK8 as well as the free one (Pikmin 3 or Windwaker HD I think) for additional premium point discounts, or buy physical MK8 for the box art. Lots to ponder about here.

As to the e3 direct, as they are calling it a "digital event" i think it may be more like this one, with high production values and such forth, rather than the more serious simpler directs with one or two Japanease men talking ad some game footage that we are used too.

I am also looking forward to these new localized games that have been teased.

Most of it was pretty cringe-inducingly cheesy, but the info itself was good. I did enjoy the "My Special Mario Kart Memories" segments though.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Best direct Nintendo has ever made. One of the best gaming presentations I've seen in a long long time.

Did you watch the British/EU or the American version of it?

Europe has the same games as NA... Plus six more. How can NOA's approach be better?

There would probably be lots of disappointed new Wii U users selecting games from those 6 other games. "Well, MK8 was great but that other game was meh."

Not all users reads internet forums or do their research, casual buyers could easily assume that all offered games are approximately on the same level. Those 4 NoA games and Game & Wario/Sonic Lost Worlds/Sochi/NintendoLand aren't in the same league. Wonderful 101 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate are fantastic but only for some types of players. A user that gets 2 really great games with the new console would be a major future marketing factor and would more likely by more games. That's how I see it, at least.

@jariw I get what you're saying. For new Wii U owners, yeah, maybe. But for people like me who have had a Wii U for some time, I'd like to be able to pick from a game that I want or don't already have, i.e. Sonic Lost Worlds. I'll get Pikmin 3 which is cool and I know a lot of people praise it highly. And it's a game I wouldn't have paid for otherwise, so maybe you have a good point. But it's still kind of a bummer that my only other option was Wii Party U, a game I have zero interest in, since I have the other two. Anyway, who am I to complain? Free game!

Let's face it, this promotion deal is to increase the hardware base for their future software title releases. There probably wouldn't be any such deal if the Wii U hardware sales figures would be fantastic. But still, the deal is made in a way that existing users aren't totally left out (even if you have all 4 and bought them retail, you could sell one of your existing copies and get one digital copy instead).

You're getting a great game with Pikmin 3, we still play the local 2-player games all the time here.
