Hello

I just purchased a Wii U last night. I am 55 and purchased for the good old games as well as something the grandkids( they are 8 and 4) and I can enjoy when they come over. In my life I have had many different consoles: NES,Sega Super system,SNES, Genesis, Turbo Graphics 16, Dreamcast, XBox, Xbox360, Wii, Playstation and PS3.. I have a PS3 which I use mainly for playing sports games online with my son in California. I always find the Ninetendo games fun and entertaining.

I am trying to get some answers to the following questions

1. I have a 2GB USB drive hooked up. I had it laying around so I figured I would use it. I noticed I can download some of the new games instead of buying at the local store. I like this idea, but if my hard drive crashes, can I redownload the games? I would hate to invest money into games and then due to a HD failure to lose them all.

2. Can the HD be backed up incase of a crash

3. Games for Grandkids: My granddaughter is 8 and grandson is 4. I am curious if you have any game recommendations for this age group. My granddughter has a gameboy which she plays Kirby. They also play Angry Birds on the ipad. Just looking for a game in which they will enjoy and games which do not take for ever since they do not have a Wii U at home (well not as of today that is)

Thanks for the help

Thanks. I got the Deluxe set and messed with the Nintendo Land last night as well as Zombi U. Did not play very long as the I had to set the system up and do the latest update, setup an eshop account. Then the Sharks playoff game on. Today I should be able to enjoy a full day of messing around and grandkids coming over as well.

Cheaptrick

1) 2 Gb USB storage drive (I assumed this is a thumb drive) doesn't have enough storage space for you to stores some of your downloaded games. You need to buy a larger storage drive.
2) You can buy an additional USB storage drive to back up your games. It's even easier now with the new update cuz you can now back it up from one drive to another.

Yeah, you can redownload. The 2GB is practically nothing if you plan to download games instead of buying of them you will need to get a lot bigger hard drive to hook up.

Give Nintendo Land some time I think you and the kids will enjoy it. Its very likable to most every age group. Something for everyone.

The first two have been answered so I'll just answer the third.

Rayman Legends Challenge
It's free and it's pretty fun with one person on the GamePad and another with a controller. It's a short demo sort of thing but there is a challenge mode that's hard but requires co-operation and is rewarding. Also it's free, did I mention it's free?

New Super Mario Bros U
Nobody has mentioned this yet but it's probably the biggest good kid friendly game on the system so far. Maybe not as good for co-op as Rayman but it has a lot more content.

Kirby's Adventure
Probably one of the better NES games for younger kids and it's 30c ATM. It doesn't have multiplayer but they can share the controller between levels or have one play and the other watch.

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed
I don't own this but I'm fairly sure it's pretty solid. Can't go too wrong with kart racers and kids. Plus Mario Kart isn't out for the Wii U yet.

Old Wii games
The Wii U doesn't have a huge library ATM but there are plenty of old Wii games that would be ridiculously cheap now. Kirby's Epic Yarn, Mario Kart Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Smash Bros Brawl or even something like Wii Sports Resort. They were fun and still are fun.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

Believe in the Teal!

I had season tickets from 1991 until we moved to St Louis. Still diehard Shark fan!
