Topic: Installing a digital version of a disk game - what happens to previously installed data

I have a disk game that I have saves, dlc and updates on the Wii u hd drive. I want to download a digital version of the game from the eshop to a connected usb hd.

My question is, will the digital game read the previous data (saves, dlc, updates)?
Do I need to move these files to the same storage location (Wii u hd to usb hd)?
Will I need to delete the "old" data and redownload / start over?

Thanks in advance.

@JackNapier If it's like the switch, the switch doesn't care if you change physical or digital, both game versions pull from the same save data file. So, it wont affect your game progress. Wii U might be the same? If no one else answers, you can ask Nintendo Support via chat messenger or phone line.

I believe the Wii U should read the same save file with no problem. Like the comment above, if it's anything like the Switch, then you shouldn't have an issue.
