So I just bought a used Wii U from my friend and I use it for playing smash 4 with my brother. We use two third party GameCube controllers with a used nintendo adapter. They worked fine for Brawl on the Wii, and for a about 2 weeks they worked fine for smash 4. But then both controllers stopped working at the same time. The console doesn't register any of their inputs. I press buttons and nothing happens with either controller. I've tried even using a brand new third party adapter to see if that made any difference, and it didn't. I've tried turning the console off and on again, tried using different USB slots, and using different slots in the adapter itself, and unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in. Is it just a problem with the console, or have my controllers or adapters gone bad?
@MikeBarbera Have you tested the USB ports with another device Eg. microphones or HDD?
Have you tested the adapter and controllers with a PC?
If you have, my suspicion would be that you've gotten unlucky with the controllers, cos it's rare for Nintendo hardware to just suddenly give out like that, they normally just wear out rather than sudden failure.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@gcunit I will try that. I'll let you know my results. My controllers are from a third party so maybe that's why they both failed at the same time. Thanks bro.
The only solution I found is that if you buy a gamecube adapter for your PC and Wii U is that there is a switch you need to switch to Wii U. It cannot work for Wii software like Mario Kart Wii.
