That's kinda like Super Mario Galaxy's levels but nobody ever complains about that. Anyway, I can think of a Donkey Kong game that is actually better than most 2D Mario's maybe the CDi Mario's. :3

That's not the aspect of it I'm concerned with though. I'm concerned about what kinds of actions you can do that you couldn't before. How can the new gameplay mechanic help me in the game? How could the levels be designed to take advantage of it?

Like what Mario platformers do?

Barely. The new gameplay mechanics that modern Mario games add are little more than gimmicks, they're only useful for a handful of levels or very specific situations instead of the entire game.

I'm sorry but I can't take your opinion on games seriously when you haven't experienced them yourself. It would be like me talking about how boring Destiny is even though I haven't played it.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Neither can I take yours seriously if you're too hung up on what I have and have not played to even bother understanding my point. It's really not as big a deal as you're making it out to be.

I love both but for me DKC always feels like it controls better. I have literally played them all and I'd struggle to pick which series I like more but I definitely feel more comfortable playing DCK games (probably because I played them before Mario).

Off the top of my head I'd rate each game... Yoshi's Island > DKC2 > Super Mario World > Tropical Freeze > SMB > SMB3 (probably the greatest game ever but playing it for the first time at 26 I'm not hugely enamoured with it like I def woulda been at 10) > DKC > NSMB WiiU > DKC3 > DKC Returns > NSMB > NSMB Wii > SMB2 > NSMB2

It's Wario time Yaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
