I have been thinking recently that it would serve Nintendo well to utilize stamps (like those found in Super Mario 3D World) as their form of achievement/trophy system. I think it would be fun to collect these across all games and they could be shown off via miiverse. I will start mentioning it in all my club Nintendo surveys. What do you think about this stamp achievement idea... good or bad?
I think this would be a good reward system for achievements, and stamps due serve as a form of achievements while not being achievements but then everyone would need to be on board with it.

Thanks! I really like your website. It has a very clean design. I majored in marketing too so that is my passion. I believe Nintendo created its greatest marketing for titles via miiverse, however, the rest of their efforts are subpar.
They could, yes. I'm not sure if they will this late in the game, though. A lot of games would need to get patched, just like when they added trophies on PS3.

I don't think that will be hard

Look how long it took the 360 to do achievements. I wouldn't mind seeing an achievement system implemented as it would make game have more replay value but I honestly don't see nintendo following suit with one.
I think this is a good idea.. I have a love hate kind of feeling towards achievements. Growing up without them was just fine, but for some reason.. it's strange not having them now. I guess it's an ego thing. Even when I played my 360 when I had it, it always gave me a small amount of self-satisfaction when I got an achievement. The thing I hate about them though is that everyone wants them and act as if they haven't accomplished anything without having a trophy to show it off. Whatever... I think it's odd that Nintendo went without them, especially when they're so popular. I'd like to see them implement the stamps as achievements, even if I don't use the Miiverse often.
Never understood the hate some Nintendo fans give to achievements. They add to the 100% completion factor, add a little replay value, and serve as bragging rights to smudge in your friends' faces(best part IMO). So, um, yes they could.

Because there are good achievements and bad achievements and no matter what game you play there are always achievements that are absurd for the sake of being absurd- Stamps in SM3DW are an example of a good achievements because:
They require extra effort to find but little time
Dont detract from the game as they were placed with the game in mind(not an afterthought)
Are not just "Do X thing 100 times" grinds
@NorthLightSuplx Thanks, always nice to see a few marketing people around here . Miiverse is good in that it helps sell within the community, but the problem Nintendo had and still is having is getting outside people to come in.
I like that Idea, stamps seem very Nintendo-esque and they are including them in games now. Plus the fact that you can share them on Miiverse via it being a stamp would be cool. I'll start mentioning this to Nintendo as well

Collecting stamps is much better than stupid achievements. They can still look stupid but I guess its the same concept as the batman question marks. Posting them on miiverse with Super Mario 3D World was fun.

It would take a lot of time, though, and I'm not sure how many developers want to go back to every game they put out, program them with these stamps, test them thoroughly to make sure the stamps actually work, fix what's broken, then test them again to make sure they didn't break something else. That's including Nintendo. I guess they do that with patches, but I think they might just go off of player feedback rather than test again...
I dunno, it just seems like, if people were buying their products before the stamp system, it seems like it'd be a tough sell to the developers to suddenly have to include stamps. I can certainly see it with the next Nintendo console, but who knows.
I got up to 60,000+ gs on xbl and its a big relief coming back to nintendo and not obsessing over them. If you are the 100% completion type you dont need achievements to make that better, you need developers add more incentives in game to make mindless grinds worth something more than 10g.

Stamp collecting IS really fun in that game. It would be a nice form of achievement.
