This info that I read is older and I am wondering if they have put the bigger battery in the system by default now or if this thing is something I should consider?
Yeah I got this battery as a present and it makes my GamePad last at least twice as long... I get 6 hours of gameplay no problem. Well worth the money if you ask me!
No the Hi-Capacity battery is not defaulted in new systems.

Thanks a ton. Going to place an order for one then.

I never understood the problem with the battery. I game a good bit and never have had it run out. I just set it back on the charging cradle after I'm done playing.

On the weekends I have been known to go on 8 hour binges, if not more. Work week usually makes me want to catch up. The bigger battery would have me feeling less constrained.

Normally it isn't a problem for me, but sometimes my daughter and I get to playing a lot of Smash or Mario Kart before she goes to bed and there's not enough time to give a proper charge to the Gamepad if I want to play something else after she's off to dreamland.
I'd be very surprised if Nintendo did pack it in by default; the normal charge is sufficient for short bursts and there's the Pro Controller with a battery life that exceeds the Wii Remote (from what I've seen thus far), so it is an optional extra that they clearly planned for in the design. The bigger battery does bring some extra weight as well, though I've never found that a problem; my kid still uses the Gamepad as her controller of choice in Smash.
