If information is transferred from the Wii to the Wii U, do all of one's old virtual console games get transferred over too?

All of your data is transferred to Wii U's Wii mode. However, the Wii virtual console data does not transfer to Wii U virtual console, but it still is on your Wii virtual console.

I see. Is the Wiiware and virtual console stuff that is still unavailable to the Wii U eshop available for download in Wii mode? What I mean is, can I go into Wii mode, go online, and download the same stuff that I could on the original Wii?

One final question: can Wiiware and Wii VC games be saved on the Wii U's hard-drive, or am I still limited to 512 MB + memory cards when it comes to stuff downloaded in Wii mode?

You can still download them directly to the console.

Edit: For some reason, LostWinds won't transfer. But it will still be on your Wii.

Wii transfers and Wii Mode/Wii Shop downloads are limited to Wii Mode storage and SD cards, just like the original Wii.

If you downloaded every game on the WiiShop you won't even fill up a 4 - 8 Gb SD card

If you download many/all games from the Wii Shop you still need multiple SD cards, because there´s not enough room (only 240 games/channels to store per SD Card) and no folder-making feature on Wii´s SD Card Menu.

I wish they´d update this because I have more than 240 games/downloads. They could all fit on one 8GB SD Card easily if the menu would allow for it. But I´m left to swap two SD Cards (with more than 10 unusable Gigabytes) which is sad.

This never getting updated, not even on Wii U (which happened to be just a copy of Wii´s bad-aged system unfortunately) was the reason I stopped downloading from the Wii Shop.

You can use the WiiShop as a kind of cloud though there are alot of games I haven't redownloaded because I don't play them anymore... I only put all the Megadrive VC and La Mulana back on my SD
