I have 900 points left and I would like to spend it on another Genesis or Mega Drive VC game. Here are the games I have now.
Sonic 1
Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Sonic Spinball
Sonic 3D Blast
Mean Bean Machine
Beyond Oasis
Landstalker
Ristar
Vectorman
Columns
Gunstar Heroes
Earthworm Jim

So I'm not sure what Genesis or Mega Drive game I want next.

I'd have to say go for Streets of Rage 2, as long as you like old school brawlers.

I initially misread the post. i thought it was a list of games you were thinking of buying at first. Not sure what to recommend, i will say if you have a 360/PS3, remember the Ultimate collection Sega released awhile ago. If you ever consider buying it, just avoid buying games on the VC that are included in the collection (Around 40 MD/Genesis games and 9 Arcade ones)

Firstly, how do you like Ristar? Is it worth it?

Secondly, I think it really depends on what kind of games you like. Other than that I would recommend Mega Turrican, Gley Lanser, Dynamite Heady and Shinobi III. Yeah, sort of a mixed genre bag there but you can tell I have an affinity for platforming elements in my games.

Buy Shinobi III. It's wonderful. And if you like RPGs, Phantasy Star IV is an excellent choice as well (avoid PS II & III at all costs, however).

Rolling Thunder 2 is also a great game, if you're willing to take the chance on it. It provides neat little twists to the run-and-gun genre.

@Maniac. Ristar is worth every penny! ;)

@Maniac: I like Ristar really well. It's a great platformer. It even got a 9/10 here on Nintendolife.

@Ricardo91: I do like RPGs. Are you sure it's OK to skip 2 and 3?

My favorites for Genesis are Streets of Rage 2(1 & 3 are also good though) and Shinobi III, but I would definately go with the Genesis Collection for PS2, PS3, or 360 if you have one of those systems. You would get a lot more games for your buck.

Streets of Rage II is pretty decent (I have Bareknuckle II on the Japanese system, same game different language); the arcade ports of Crack Down and Bonanza Bros. are also excellent.

@Sean Aaron: Doesn't Bareknuckle II have a different boss character in it? A flamboyantly gay one I think.

I was almost considering Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition. But since I already have the Turbo version for the SNES on VC, it would be a waste of $8.

Oh yes, definitely. The stories between the games aren't related in any way whatsoever. PS II has a ridiculously high difficulty level. It requires hours of grinding in order to progress, items are too expensive, and I usually can't last more than 10 seconds in the first dungeon. It also has barely-better-than master-system-quality graphics. On the other end, PS III is so mind-numbingly boring, you'll fall asleep while playing it. PS IV has the same combat system as II, but it's much more polished and faster-paced, the story moves along better, and the graphics are LEAGUES better.

Though if you have a PS3 or Xbox 360, you can try them all out on the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection. You'll save a lot of money with that. ;)

Looks like Phantasy Star IV will be my next download tomorrow. As it will be another RPG for me to try.

That's Bare Knuckle 3. The only difference between Bare Knuckle 2 and Streets of Rage 2 is MR X is smoking a cigar at the end in Bare Knuckle. Bare Knuckle 3, though, is much better than Streets of Rage 3 - I imported the Japanese Sonic Gems Collection so have them all on there, which is good as I don't think I could play Streets of Rage 3 any more (there's a lot more changes than the removal of the flambloyantly gay character in it).

Interesting, I had no clue. Mainly I just wanted a beat 'em up and I didn't want to play a version of Final Fight with only two character choices (hopefully we'll get the real deal on the VCA someday) so this seemed like a good choice based upon reviews. Graphically not as nice as Final Fight, but I got what I wanted.
