Hey, I was one of the winners of the Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary contest (the one where the prize was a free VC NES game). The problem is, I don't know what to get? What are some of the best NES games on VC? I was thinking about getting SMB 3, but I'm thinking about getting the Super Mario All Stars Wii collection when it comes out. So the question is, what are the best NES VC games to get, and should I get SMB 3 even if I'm getting the SMAS collection? Thanks in advance.

Congrats on winning =D

Personally if it was me I would wait for the SMA collection but if you are one of those people that need both versions than go for it. Right now I have all three Mario games on the VC but I am going to delete them as soon as I get the SMA collection. There are several good games out there right now, but for me to make a suggestion I would need to know what type of games you like and what ones you have if any.

Thanks :)
Sorry, I forgot to put that stuff in...
I only have 2 NES games on VC: Super Mario Bros. and Kirby's Adventure. I guess that means I like platformers lol. I'm not sure about everything I like, but I'm certain I like platformers. I enjoy racing games and some RPGs too.

Then again, I'm not sure if I like 8-bit racing games, so probably not those.

Ok some of the games I recommend are......

Any of the 4 Megaman games they are great platformer games. Probably if I had to chose 1 it would be Megaman 3

Final Fantasy (a classic RPG)

Star Tropics

Ninja Gaiden 1 or 2 (But be warned those are some very hard game)

You also cant go wrong on either of the Zelda games.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions! I went with Mega Man 1 because you know what they say, begin at the beginning lol.

Ok, if Mario Party 2 comes out for Christmas, I'm getting it and the Yard Sale game. That'll leave me with 500 points to spare.

MY OPTIONS
Mega Man- little interest in the series
Kid Icarus- I've been told it's very hard
Metroid- maybe
Sonic SMS- for nostalgia
Ice Climber- little interest

Kid Icarus can be hard in the first level, but it gets much better after that. I recommend it.

Who cares, play Mega Man so you can make an honest appraisal.

Darkwing Duck, although made by Capcom, is totally different than the Mega Man series. I think Darkwing Duck has more variety but it's also a pretty hard game if I remember correctly. I have the Gameboy version and it's a nightmare. I suggest you get into the series by starting with either 2 or 3.

I'm really excited about the support the Arcade is getting from Capcom. My hope is that others start following suit. I know most people don't care for this and it's an NES VC title, but I have fond memories of playing Mario Bros. at my childhood church. That cabinet got played to death...literally. The NES graphics just don't bring back the nostalgia for me. So here's hoping to Mario Bros.!

I had the MMAC for awhile, but never developed much interest.

Yeah, why has Nintendo been slacking on their own Arcade releases? I'd buy Arcade Donkey Kong in a heartbeat!

It seems to me like you're still interested in it if you're still asking yourself whether or not you should play it again. If you ask me, the best way is to pick up Mega Man 2 and find out once and for all whether or not you'll like it. And if your problem is that you think Darkwing Duck is better, then okay, so you prefer one game over another. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy both.

Well, how about you atone for your sins by getting MM2 for the VC? ;)

Don't forget Mega Man 3. And 4. And 5. The first and sixth one are insignificant to me, but I loved all the others.

If you want to try out the Mega Man series, you should really go for two. I started the series with two and enjoyed it very much. The difficulty isn't too bad, and it's generally considered the best one.

So random on-topic post--got Dungeon Explorer the other day and it's kinda fun. It's really simple and kinda uninteresting as a single-player experience, but I played it 4 player earlier and it was a blast...albeit a simple one. I can only imagine 5 players!

It's kinda like Gauntlet but with persistent characters and leveling....each class also has different white and black magic spells. Granted, a few of the classes are kinda gimpy and a few make lousy solo classes (and some, like Bishop, make amazingly effective solo classes due to a massive heal) but overall it's a solid experience if you have some friends that wanna play something old.
