So when I first got my Wii a year after launch, one of the things that most excited me was the Virtual Console. In particular, I loved the idea of getting to play Street Fighter II with my dad again after years of him refusing to play a game because he "couldn't understand them anymore." So, naturally, I downloaded the very familiar Street Fighter II: World Warriors back then.
Recently I decided to boot that up for the first time in a while and realized that that was the first version of Street Fighter II... and subsequent editions have a lot more content, characters and gameplay tweaks to be more competitive and varied... but there are so many. So my question is: what it the ultimate version of Street Fighter II on the Virtual Console? Super? Turbo? Hyper? Championship? New Challengers? Ultra Mega Explosive Dynamite Extra Political Sex Scandal Remix Edition?
I've got a couple friends I'd love to play some Street Fighter with, but need advice on which one to go with. Thanks!
On the VC, I'd say Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. I'm no fighting game expert but that one always seemed to be the most fun and had the most content of them all.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
I'm very sure of that, yes... but what is considered the definitive version?
Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix is technically the definitive version, but we'll never see that. After that is Super Street Fighter II Turbo, which we may see someday, but not for a long time. What we do have that's closest to a definitive version is Super Street Fighter II.
