This game was so much fun... and so was Zelda II. I don't know, I guess I'm just a sucker for black sheep.

Those blue coins are very well hidden, in random numbers, in random levels.

There is exactly 30 blue coins in every level. I would know because I used a guide. They are very hard to find but not in random numbers.

I'll be damned. That would have helped. Sunshine is one of the only Mario games I did not get 100% in (the other being Luigi's Mansion, getting the biggest mansion at the end and what not).
But, knowing that there are 30 blue coins only really helps if you are taking notes on a pad of paper from the start. There is no indicator that tells you how many blue coins that you have gotten, how many are left or anything. Even if I had a guide today, the only way to get all the blue coins would be to revisit each level, and go to the location of each blue coin in the guide. I love a challenge, but I need some guidance (like the hidden green starts in SMG2).
Well, maybe my memory is clouding my perception of how hard this task really was. Are the blue coins as hard to get as I think they are? How many other people here have 100%?
I might restart the game taking pen & paper tallys of how many blue coins I get per level. Knowing there is a Mario game with stars I havn't found is starting to irk me.

I've 100% it. You can write that on a note pad to keep track.

But that was almost a year ago when I did it.
